  1. Cynthia, I apologize for writing something that made you upset. I actually do love doctors, too, and no, I am not sucking up. lol I developed such strong friendships with nurses back in the "old days" when I used to work. I remember how fatigued and stressed they always seemed to be, and they always felt uplifted when I told them that their hard work didn't go unnoticed and the hospital couldn't function without them.

Please know that my comment was made out of respect for the nursing profession and not out of dislike for physicians.

Do you have a specialty ?

  2. Hi -

Just wanted to add to anyone interested in checking out Angie's - I ordered from her for the first time in November and was very, very pleased. And I've been spoiled by Crosscreek and PI! Good strong throws, a nice variety of scents and products, and great customer service. The TAT was a bit longer than normal but she was swamped by holiday orders and was great about keeping in touch about it. Hopefully her sale won't end before I get a chance to order again!

  3. Oh boy, I am going to have to check out Angie's now...those grubby melts sound very tempting.

Today I am melting Crosscreek's Sugared Spruce in the kitchen and Nene's Mistletoe Kiss in the living room. My house smells terrific !

Edited to add that it is 11 degrees ,with the wind chill, here in Charlotte, NC. This is unusually chilly !

  4. Melissa, you're really smokin' with those tarts you have coming ~

I think Candlefind should have you do some of their official reviews ! I know I'm looking forward to hearing how you like all of your new goodies. What is LSD in Chicago? I know it must stand for a big city but I'm drawing a big blank. Think I need more coffee, lol.

  5. Gina, I wish you the best of luck with Law School. You mention living in CT...My husband is from Ridgefield, CT. and most of his family still live there. In fact, his brother owns the Village Tax Shop in Ridgefield, and is an attorney/accountant. Where in CT do you live ?

It must be exciting to plan a Disney World Vacation. We were there with the kids a couple of years ago and it is spectacular. You must check out Pleasure Island, which is a terrific night spot for couples. My husband and I were lucky to have my parents along for the trip, and they watched the kids while we went to Pleasure Island at night.

  6. Hi! My name is Nancy and I live in SW Missouri. I am married and have one son. I am 56 and a total candle fanatic. I got started about 2 yrs ago with candles and have been into melts for over a year now. I get more for my money with them in my opinion. I am really enjoying reading the different tips, opinions and ideas you have all been posting. I have been looking up lots of the companies you mention that I hadn't heard of. I hope as time goes by we can all be candle friends and neighbors.

  7. Good Morning on this first day of 2008. I'm trying another brand new Yankee tart this morning called Berry Jam--it hasn't fully melted yet so don't know how it will be--will update later. Hope you all have a great day.

Update--this one didn't have any throw at all so dumped it and replaced with YC Cranberry Chutney--nice winter scent.

  8. I think those of us with teenage daughters need to form our own support group forum, lol. Or at least start a similar topic under Off Topic here.

I am liking Nene's Christmas wish. It is melting in my 12 watt burner, which doesn't throw as strong as my 24 watt burner. The scent is light but refreshing. Hard to compare it to YC's version because I've never tried that one. They may not even be the same mixtures.

    The description for Nene's says:

A unique blend of light citrus, pine, and cedar wood nestled in a warm, rich vanilla cookie base. Just what I want my house to smell like for the holidays

But I also have Christmas Wish by Crosscreek and its description is a bit different from Nenes':

a delightful Christmas blend of fresh pine, orange and spices

  9. Boogie,

How do you like Nene's Christmas Wish? Better than YC's version? I love Yankee's scent and am as always looking for a good dupe...I've found that the dupes are often better than the originals.

After reading about your Xmas adventure I'm gritting my teeth when I think ahead to the next couple of years...my daughter's only 11 but judging from her mood swings now I can see what's coming...
