Introduction to my Evergreen candle from White Barn:
I can’t believe it’s already time to start reviewing Christmas scents… where did time go? I mean seriously… I’m still burning all my Pumpkin scents!! Where did fall go?
I’m not really a big fan of pine or Christmas tree scents… they’re way too strong for me and give me major headaches. But since it happens to be one of the most popular scents in December “and” my husband’s favorite scent of all time. GAH!!! Christmas tree candles – here I come!
White Barn Candle is a favorite brand of mine so when I saw Evergreen, I immediately bought one. The whole candle looks festive… the wax color the exact green of a Christmas tree… the label shows a father and child carrying a freshly cut Christmas tree in the snow. My hubby was so excited to burn this candle so how could I not indulge him this one small little joy?
What did my Evergreen candle look like?
This candle was their 14.5 oz large three wick candle. The wax color the perfect dark green – the exact color of a Christmas tree. The label shows the White Barn logo at the top with a picture of a pine forest in the background and a father and child carrying a freshly cut Christmas tree in the snow. The lid was a flat matte gold color with the White Barn logo embossed in the center. Very well done.
What did my Evergreen candle smell like?
Popping open the lid on this candle, oh my gosh… it smelled just like a Christmas tree. The real deal and not super strong which was promising for me!! I had my hubby smell it (a man obsessed with natural pine scents) and he smiled and said it smelled pretty good. Here is the scent description from Bath & Body Works website:
“Inspired by the fragrance of a freshly cut evergreen tree – a blend of green fir balsam, cool pine and dark woods.”
I think it took all of 10 minutes before the scent engulfed my entire house… I am not kidding!! It was so strong the first day I had it burning, it was almost to the point of unbearable. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not. Bad for those who are sensitive to strong pine fragrances, great if you happen to love super strong Christmas tree scents! This scent is beyond strong! On a scale of 1 to 10, this was a TWELVE!!
Good news… it tapers down to a nice medium+ throw once it’s about half way down the candle… why? I have no idea. That’s how it was for me… the second day and on, I’d say it was about an 9 till the end. Compared to a 12, that’s pretty good.
How did my Evergreen candle burn?
My candle burned perfect!! Nice consistent flames till the very end. No wasted wax, no soot.
Closing to my review:
This was another great candle from White Barn – I have not been disappointed yet with one of their candles or fragrances. I am just so impressed with this brand!
If you’re after a true to life Christmas tree scent, give Evergreen a try. Once candle should scent your house quite nicely.

These candles aren’t nearly as strong as last year’s scents. They have drastically changed the formulation at a higher price so I’ m returning all 6 candles. The evergreen is supposed to smell like Christmas pine and has no smell whatsoever!!! Total rip off. Please change back the formulation to the way it was. Not only that but the container isn’t nearly as attractive as the beautiful green glass container of last year!
I feel like pine/evergreen scents are really hit or miss. They can be *claiming* to have the same fragrant notes but then all smell SO different. it was really kind of you to buy a candle your hubs liked 🙂 not sure how i feel about pine still…they’re not my first choice, but i do always give them a sniff when i’m in the store.
