Introduction to my review:
I don’t know about you but the moment I enter a Pier 1 store… I make a beeline straight to the candle section. I loooooooooove Pier 1 candles! They may not always be the most fragrant but boy are they gorgeous! Pier 1 also offers unique signature scents you won‘t find anywhere else. I‘m also happy to say, their scented candles are expanding and getting better… I used to buy Pier 1 candles strictly for decoration but lately, I’ve been buying them to scent my rooms. For years, they only had pillar candles but lately, I’ve been seeing more and more scented jars. YEAH!!!!
Citrus Cilantro is a signature fragrance at Pier 1 and I love it! I love the candles, the room sprays, the hand soap, the reed diffusers… you name it – I want it all in this fragrance. It’s so fresh, unique and a perfect herbal and zesty citrus blend. When I saw this scent came in large ribbed glass jars, I fell in love and had to have several to review for Candlefind.
What did my Pier 1 candle look like?
This candle is really striking. It’s a very rustic design that clearly proclaims a Pier 1 product. The vessel itself is large and heavy at almost 18 ounces of wax… the glass is ribbed with a dark flat wood lid that fits the candle snugly. The wax was a beautiful dark sage green. Around the neck of the candle is dark brown thick twine tied in a bow with rustic terracotta beads at the end of each string. (see pictures) My favorite part… these candles have TWO WICKS!!
What did my Citrus Cilantro candle smell like?
Let’s start with the scent description:
“Our zesty Citrus Cilantro Filled Candle is kind of like an herb garden in a jar. So plant it in a prominent place and watch it glow.”
If you haven’t smelled this fragrance, you must… especially if you love citrus scents. This fragrance is so different and unique. It’s citrusy but with an herbal and fresh kick. I LOVE LOVE it!!! I’ve tried all kinds of dupes from different companies but none compare to the real McCoy.
I lit this candle in my bedroom (which is quite large) to test this candle out. It’s a big candle so I was hoping it would be strong enough. No can do…. I ended up moving it to a small bathroom where it performed perfect… so that’s where it stayed from beginning to end. In a smaller room, it gave a nice medium and consistent throw. Mmmmmm does this scent smell good. It’s so fresh and lively and it brings an instant smile to my face every time I‘m near where it‘s burning. It’s kind of hard to pinpoint what kind of citrus it is (I personally think it’s lime) but whatever it is, it has the right touch of zesty herbs blended in giving it an almost aromatherapy quality. It’s the kind of scent that relaxes and soothes you and just plain makes you smile.
Loved it and highly recommend this candle!! Will buy this candle again and again.
How did my candle burn?
My candle burned perfect!! No issues with the wicks or burn performance. I did have to keep my wicks trimmed but that’s pretty normal.
Closing to my review:
I loved this candle and will for sure be purchasing more. This candle was on the lighter side so I do think it’s better suited to smaller rooms if you’re goal is a strong scent throw. The strength was perfect in a smaller room… nice and strong!
Citrus Cilantro is definitely one of my favorite Pier 1 scents of all time. This is a great candle to burn when you want a burst of freshness in a room. It’s also a great candle to burn when you have guests over and want to freshen up a room. It’s so pretty burning in a bathroom and even just makes a great accent piece in any room.
Next time you’re in Pier 1… go smell this candle. You’ll love it.

This is one of my favorite scents from Pier 1. It’s light in a candle but great in small rooms.
Citrus Cilantro is one of my favorite scents from Pier 1. My other favorite is Ginger Peach.
I love this scent. So much! I buy the pillars and sometimes jar candles. I place them in my bathrooms and don’t even have to light them. They smell up the whole room.
oh man! when i saw the picture of the jar i was hoping it would have a strong scent throw because i love all citrus scents in my kitchen and loved how this candle looks. but my kitchen is pretty big and so i don’t think id try it out. you’re right that it would be nice in freshening up a bathroom but $18 is pretty steep for a bathroom candle in my budget :p
