Blueberry Sugar Bath & Body Works Candle ReviewBlueberry Sugar

First impression of Blueberry Sugar:

I managed to pick up a Blueberry Sugar during Bath & Body Works $8.95 candle sale and boy did it smell good enough to eat!!

Here is the scent description pulled from the bottom of the candle:

Sweet blueberries, brown sugar, graham cracker crust.

First impression… my nose smelled sugar and blueberries the most. Not sure on the brown sugar but definitely sugar. Graham cracker crust? I didn’t smell that or any bakery for that matter. The overall scent kind of reminded me of taffy, the gooey kind that sticks to your teeth when you chew it.

I liked it. Now let’s see how this candle performs!

I lit this candle in my master bedroom to start out and that’s where it stayed till the end. Bath & Body Works picked a perfect name for this scent because that’s exactly what it smelled like… blueberries and sugar. It smelled like candy or taffy, or a sweet blueberry punch with lots of sugar. Take your pick or all of the above. It was a very fun and bright scent that I thoroughly enjoyed. The only bummer… the candle didn’t perform as well as I hoped. See below.

Strength – I would rate this candle an 8 in a large room. 10 in medium to smaller rooms. Great scent throw.

How did my candle burn?

I’ve been having really rotten luck with my Bath & Body Works candles lately and it really bums me out. The dreaded wick issue struck this candle. At the halfway point, the wicks fizzled out where eventually, one wouldn’t even stay lit no matter what I tried to fix it. UGH!!!! The end result, the candle tunneled a little bit and I had some wasted wax. Why it always happens at the halfway point, I don’t know.

Closing to my review:

Blueberry Sugar turned out to be a really fun scent that I enjoyed, I just wish the candle would have performed better and then I would have loved it even more. With that said, you never know when the defective wicks will strike with that brand and unfortunately, I’ve been unlucky in that department of late. It’s pretty discouraging and if I wasn’t reviewing these candles, I probably wouldn’t purchase them as often as I do because of it. ☹ So, I’m curious… do you have the same wick issues with this brand? Post your comments below and let us know.

I don’t see Blueberry Sugar listed on Bath & Body Works website but I bet you can still pick one up in one of their many stores. That’s where I purchased this one and that wasn’t too long ago. If you try one, I hope your candle burns okay. Crossing fingers….

Happy candle hunting!

  1. I have had a few wick issues with these candles – a small percent of what I have purchased though. I simply take them to the Bath & Body Works store and they have replaced the candle cheerfully. Never a question asked. Great customer service.

  2. I haven’t bought a BBW candle in a while exactly because of the issue with the wicks. They tend to drawn anytime after the halfway point. It really is too bad because I love their scents, but in the end its a waste of money. So I go for YC, Goose Creek or Candle Village.

  3. i’m so excited now as i just orded 1 or 2 online since i can’t find any in YC (which is quickly becoming NOT my favorite candle for the $$- other than long burning time- but i do love their Blueberry scents) I’ll have to see how my wicks behave- i had my first issue with the B&BW wicks recently but thankfully not until 1/3 or more the way down and had to keep rotating the candle and finally had to waste some wax as well… Great $$ deal on yours. I paid the $12.50. Just finishing up their We Whisk you a Merry Christmas candle tonight- liked it a lot- other than the frosted glass- it’s very smokey colored- otherwise just fine. thank you as always for your Time and Reviews!

  4. I have had problems with the wicks on Bath and Body Works candles also. They seem to flame high soon after lighting but if I trim them because the flame is too high they seem to glow and sputter. When they flame high they also mushroom. It is a shame as I love all the scents I have gotten from Bath and Body Works.
