First impression of Salt Water Taffy:

Salt Water Taffy from Bath & Body Works has been around for a while but a candle we haven’t reviewed yet. This scent comes and goes and with it’s comeback this summer – and an amazing sale – I finally decided it was time to give it a try.

Here is the scent description for Salt Water Taffy:

Chewy vanilla cream, fresh berries, juicy cherry with essentials oils.

Adding “with essential oils” seems to be the new standard with Bath & Body Works these days. It’s hard to know what that could be, especially with bakery scents, so it’s kind of confusing. Sniffing the wax, I smelled cherry and vanilla the most with cherry dominating overall. I’m not normally a fan of cherry scents but this one smelled pretty decent. Sometimes cherry can smell like cough syrup – not this one. Salt Water Taffy was sweet and sugary, like candy.

Time to light my candle!

I lit Salt Water Taffy in my master bedroom and within a few hours moved it to a medium size room instead. I wanted maximum scent throw and a smaller space worked much better. Once moved – ahhhh!! My entire guest bedroom smelled like sweet vanilla cream with hints of cherry. It switched on me. Cold sniff was mostly cherry but it took warming the wax for the sugary vanilla to come out and boy was it yummy. Saltwater Taffy was a perfect name for this candle. Chewy vanilla and cherry taffy all the way.

Strength – I would rate this candle a 10 out of 10 in medium to smaller room. 7/8 in a large. Not bad but if you’re after strength, stick to a smaller room and go from there.

How did my Salt Water Taffy candle burn?

I’m sad to report the dreaded wick issue hit with this candle. A little over halfway down, two wicks sputtered out and from then on out, it was a struggle to keep them lit. In the end, I lost the battle. Totally bummed.

Closing to my review:

I’m glad I finally tried this candle. Loved the scent. The only negative was how my candle burned. I may try it again down the road if I catch a good sale again. We shall see…

Don’t see Salt Water Taffy on Bath & Body Works site? Try one of their stores which tends to carry all their current scents vs online. If you do see it, give it a sniffie and see what you think. It’s a yummy vanilla/cherry scent for sure.

Happy candle hunting!
