First impression of Basil & Berries:
Basil & Berries from 1803 smelled amazing! Like a tart fruit basket of peaches and something else I couldn’t quite pinpoint. I knew it was berries (obviously) but I wasn’t sure which ones. Whatever fruit it was, it was fresh, sweet at tart all at the same time. I loved it!

We have combined the crisp scents of melon and basil along with the fruitiness of berries and peaches. Basil & Berries will bring the sweet wisps of a summer day languishing on the porch with a bowl of cool melon slices and a glass of iced tea. Basil & Berries is a relaxing scent with just the perfect amount of tanginess. Carefully poured in a Kerr jar, it is an ideal scent for a summer day in need of a fragrance.
Mmm!! Smelling the wax, my nose couldn’t pick up on melon but it sure did Peaches along with what I’m thinking was raspberries. It was super tart and fresh like raspberries would taste and oh my goodness did it smell mouthwatering. Basil? Not so sure on that one but reality, it didn’t matter. This scent rocked just as it was. I loved it! Now let’s see how this candle performs.
I lit this candle in a medium size room to start out and about 2 hours later, I ended up moving it to an even smaller room. I’m one of those people who tends to move my candles from room to room until I find the best fit and this candle definitely performed the best (scent throw wise) in a smaller room. Once I moved it… aaaaah! Fresh berry heaven. The aroma smelled just as I hoped it would… fresh berries and not the candied kind with lots of sugar. Nope. This scent smelled like raspberries with teeny hints of freshly sliced peaches. It’s a scent you would smell at a Farmers Market when smelling fresh fruit. Once burning, it wasn’t too sweet nor too tart… it was a perfect medium. Basil? I honestly didn’t smell basil, nor melon. To me, this scent was all raspberry and peaches and it was pretty perfect just as it was. The only down side… it was lightly scented, so this candle definitely worked best for me in a small room.
Which brings me to strength – I would rate this candle a 6/7 out of 10 in a small room. If you want to go larger, try two candles at once or go with scented melts.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned perfect. Zero wick issues. Clean burning from beginning to end. A+
Closing to my review:
Basil & Berries should have had “farmers market” somewhere in the scent description because that’s exactly how I would ultimately describe this scent. Fresh raspberry and peaches blended in soy wax. I enjoyed this scent till the very last drop.
Just keeping it real once more… this scent was lightly scented for me so if you want to give it a try, stick to smaller rooms or go with scented melts.
Still more 1803 reviews to come. I’m having the time of my life with this brand. ?
