First impression of Vintage Lilac:
If you’ve read any of my past reviews, you know I am not a fan of floral fragrances. But there is something about 1803 Candles that makes me smile. That’s why I’m diving out of my comfort zone to try their Vintage Lilac fragrance. Why not? It’s summer! The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming and the sun in shining! A floral scent sounded like a perfect idea for such wonderful weather. Let’s hope this optimism continues as I burn the candle…. Wish me luck!
Here is the scent description for Vintage Lilac:
Generations ago, lilac bushes were lovingly planted along the edge of the garden. Grandma remembers them from when she was just a young girl. Even today the heady, yet delicate, scent of these vintage lilacs fills the family farm with the aroma of their purple blooms… Vintage Lilac jar candle has perfected what it is to smell love’s favorite flower in bloom.
1803 never disappoints with their scent descriptions, that’s for sure. Sniffing the wax, I smelled a delicate floral and it smelled very realistic – like putting my nose in a fresh bouquet of flowers.
I was still hesitant about this one but here I go! Time to light my candle!
I decided to start Vintage Lilac in a medium size room, which I found to be a perfect setting for this fragrance. The wick lit right up and a melt pool formed in about an hour or so. But before I start describing this fragrance, I have to mention something. One aspect of 1803 I’ve always loved… it’s their all natural wax. No dies, no extra additives – just creamy white soy wax that truly reminds me of whipped cream. When you run your fingers across the wax, it feels soft, like frosting. I just love that. 😊
Okay, onto the scent…. once the aroma was permeating my guest bedroom, oh my goodness! I can’t believe I’m saying this… Lovely! I’m no expert when it comes to what lilac smells like but I will say this… my guest bedroom smelled like wildflowers were blooming in the room. Vintage Lilac smelled like my nose was right in a fresh bouquet of flowers. It smelled fresh and pretty darn realistic. The best part, the aroma wasn’t too overpowering like many floral scents can be. The fragrance from this candle filled my guest bedroom with a medium strength. Not too light but not too strong. It was perfect.
Which brings me to strength – I would rate Vintage Lilac from 1803 Candles an 8 out of 10 in a medium size room. 10 in a small. I didn’t test this one in a large room but my guess would be 5/6 in a large room.
How did my Vintage Lilac candle burn?
This candle burned perfect. Zero wick issues. Clean burning from beginning to end. I did have to trim the wick every so often to keep it from mushrooming but that’s pretty normal with most candles.
Closing to my review:
Floral lovers… Vintage Lilac was pretty darn authentic and this is coming from a gal who isn’t a fan of floral scents. 1803 keeps surprising me and I hope they continue to do so. I went into this review with a little bit of trepidation and ended up enjoying the aroma. That’s not easy to do when it comes to a floral scent.
I have a few more 1803 Candles to review so stay tuned.
Happy candle hunting!
