Introduction to my review:
With Easter right around the corner, I’m on a big time jelly bean kick. I received a catalog from Yankee a couple of weeks ago and this fragrance was a scratch-n-sniff in the catalog (love that!!) It looked so cute with its bright purple wax and colorful label, I HAD to have it!! I ended up buying it the very next day.
This candle really is adorable. The wax is a pretty and bright purple (I love purple wax) and the label shows a purple polka dot colored Easter basket stuffed full of jelly beans. I don’t know what it is about purple but I’m really attracted to that color in a candle. It could be that purple looks so pretty burning. It’s just a happy color!
What did my candle smell like?
Let’s start off with the scent description:
“A perfect match to your favorite sweet! A handful of grape jelly beans, coated with sugar and ready to enjoy, with a few lemon and raspberry added in the mix.”
Smelling the wax for the first time, it smelled exactly like the description… sugary grape candy. YUM!!!! The wax cold was nice and strong too which made me hopeful this would give a decent throw. I couldn’t wait to find out!
I lit this candle in my powder room (my room of choice to burn Yankee candles) and oh my goodness… within not even 10 minutes, the fragrance was already filling the small room with scent. YES!!!! Finally, a Yankee candle I could actually smell loud and clear when I walked into the room.
What a fun candle this was too! I loved it, in fact, the whole family loved it. Every time we walked into the room, we were greeted to a nice and strong grape candy scent. Grape jelly beans all the way! I didn’t really notice lemon or Raspberry but maybe I just wasn’t picking up on it. To me, this fragrance was all grape. Overall, the scent was perfect and exactly as described. My two boys commented on it the most… both said the bathroom smelled like grape candy.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate this candle a 5. It wasn’t super strong but boy was it hands down stronger than the majority of Yankee candles I’ve tried. I was pleasantly surprised.
My candle burned pretty good. These candles burn very slowly so it takes hours to reach full melt pools. This candle struggled a bit in the beginning and I had to help it along by pushing wax along the walls into the melt pool. Once it got to the halfway point, it burned fine with no extra help needed. My candle did burn clean with no soot.
Closing to my review:
I enjoyed this candle and I’m not usually into grape scents. My whole bathroom smelled like a sweet grape candy… it was a fun fragrance that brought out the kid in me.
If you’re in the mood for a happy scent this spring… this candle is worth checking out and an added bonus… it gave a decent scent throw. You’ll be craving real jelly beans before your candle burns out… I was!
Happy candle hunting!

I was lucky enough to recently have purchased this during the SAS at Yankee. I got this one for only $7 along with the Peeps Marshmallow candle for $7. It smells sooooo yummy like grape candy. I love it and am glad to have got it for such a great price!
This fragrance was so so for me. It was a little stale and didn’t smell like jelly beans to me.
I enjoyed this candle too but not enough to purchase it again. There are so many others that are better but if you like sweet candy scents this is a good one to try.
I’ve tried this candle once and liked it. I would buy it again.
Awesome review Christina. Thanks for the details, like about the grapes and how it burns.
