There is nothing quite like the scent of real roses. They come in such a wide variety of colors and variations…it’s enough to boggle the mind. The rose scent is one that is particularly hard to capture in candle form. We’ve found a number of rose scented candles that come off smelling fake – too sweet, too perfumey, too stuffy. Yet there are some candles that seem to capture the essence of the smell of real roses. At least they come pretty darn close! Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, we thought it would be fun to share our picks of some of the best rose scented candles on the market today.
Yankee Candle
Fresh Cut Roses
Fresh Cut Roses from Yankee Candle is a favorite candle of ours. As a matter of fact, it’s on our list of some of the best Yankee Candle large jars you can buy. It is such a fresh rose scent, complete with greenery. Some say this is Roses of Cliff Walk reincarnated…we just say that it is one of the best rose scented candles we’ve ever sniffed. The scent is strong but not overpowering.
Diptyque
Roses
On the more luxurious end, there is Diptyque’s candle, Roses. This is a more powdery rose, light and fresh. There is not as much greenery in this scent, but it’s definitely there. The cold throw is on the lighter side, but once lit, the hot throw is fantastic! Diptyque also carries a Geranium Rose scented candle that is warm, spicy, and a bit more earthy, if that’s the vibe you’re feeling.
Artisane
Fresh Cut Roses
Artisane’s Fresh Cut Roses is a wonderful blend of fresh, sweet rose with leafy green notes. In this rose scented candle, the green notes seem to overtake the rose, in a really good way. This type of rose scented candle is perfect if you can’t take too much in the way of florals. The lush, slightly sweet green notes are intoxicating, with hints of powdery rose coming through in the background. This scent is not too overpowering, either.
Voluspa
Sparkling Rose
The Sparkling Rose candle from Voluspa used to be named Prosecco Rose and it is sweetly fabulous! Think pink champagne over ice next to a lovely bouquet of edible white roses. It is definitely on the sweet side, but not cloyingly sweet. It has a bubbly, fizzy element to it that makes it a bit romantic and fun. If you’re averse to straight up rose scents, this sweet mix just might be the trick!
Paddywax
Rose + Santal
Paddywax is bringing sexy back with this Rose + Santal scented candle. The scent is warm and spicy with a bit of brightness from the citrusy notes. The rose notes are able to shine through and give a sense of sensual pleasure. This specific brand is an affordable luxury, so this is one rose scented candle that we think most everyone should give a try.
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Celebrate by trying one of our picks of the best rose scented candles on the market today.
Skandinavisk
Rosenhave
Skandinavisk’s Rosenhave is a light, fresh rose scent, with the juicy blackcurrant scent grounding the entire fragrance. It is rich and deep, but not a pure rose scent. Still the scent is so remarkably fabulous, we couldn’t help but to include it as one of the best rose scented candles out there.
Soap & Paper Factory
Flowering Currant
The Flowering Currant candle from Soap & Paper Factory is a very interesting rose scent, with tart, juicy currant notes taking center stage. This blends so well with the slightly fruity Turkish rose notes, it’s amazingly unique and swoon-worthy.
Home Lights
Rosewood Macaron
If you’re looking for a lot of bang for your buck, you can’t go wrong with the huge, slow burning candles from Home Lights. Their Rosewood Macaron candle is a beautiful, complex fragrance that combines a little sweet with a lot of warmth. The delicate floral notes blend well with the creamy bakery notes for a truly unique experience.
Jo Malone
Red Roses
The classic Red Roses candle from Jo Malone is rich and inviting. There are some subtly sweet notes in this scent and beautiful, airy green notes. The citrusy notes are a bonus, making for a complex rose scented candle that is sure to delight your senses. The fragrance is a bit more subtle, but it does permeate well.
