Introduction to my review:
I’ve been having so much fun buying all the new summer fragrances from Better Homes and Gardens this year. So many cool scents to choose from and I of course want to review them all. What candle lover wouldn’t? I love citrus fragrances in all forms and have always loved blood orange scents so purchasing this candle was a pretty easy choice.
The wax was a dark terra cotta color, almost red. The label showed sliced blood oranges that were very dark in color. The overall appearance was very simply done.
What did my candle smell like?
First impression… I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this fragrance in the beginning. It did smell like orange but with so many more dimensions to it that I couldn’t quite pinpoint. I went to Walmart’s website and was happy to find a scent description:
“Refreshing blood orange, sweet tangelo zest, pink grapefruit and sugared honey nectar combine with candied mandarin wrapped in soft citrus blossom.”
I’m so glad I could read a description because I knew there had to be more to this scent than just blood orange. Reading that description and then smelling the wax, I could for sure make out grapefruit and maybe even citrus blossom. This fragrance also seemed to have a bit of a perfume quality to it so maybe that was from the citrus blossom? It was hard to tell.
I lit this candle in a small powder room where it performed better than expected. The aroma from the candle filled the small bathroom and even traveled outside the room so that’s pretty decent for this brand. I was also pleasantly surprised with the strength. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this one between a 5 and 6.
The fragrance itself was nice. I would describe this as a complex orange with hints of grapefruit and floral tones. Very interesting and unique.
My candle burned pretty good. Very slow burning. No wasted wax, no soot.
Closing to my review:
This candle started out a little iffy but I actually ended up enjoying it and would purchase it again. This was definitely not your average orange scent. I thought it was unique so if you’re looking for a complex citrus scent, check it out next time you’re at Walmart. It is a limited edition so if you are curious… I wouldn’t wait too long. It may be gone by summers end.
I love burning Better Homes and Gardens candles in small rooms and you can’t beat the price so if you’re on a budget… this is a great brand to purchase.
Happy candle hunting!

I purchased this scent in wax melt form. In my large room it was a medium throw for the first couple of hours but it did fade quickly. Once moved to my bathroom I was able to smell it much better. I did enjoy this nice citrus scent but probably would not buy the candle since it is not as strong as I would like, it still would be great for small rooms though.
I agree with this review but for me, this scent gave off a pretty strong aroma. I liked it.
