Sugar Cookie Martini Yankee Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Yankee Candle
Type: Large 22oz candle
Fragrance: Sugar Cookie Martini
Scent Strength: Light
First impression of Sugar Cookie Martini:
Sugar Cookie Martini sounded like a really interesting scent and one I was looking forward to reviewing. Would it smell like a sugar cookie or a martini or maybe a mix of both? Sounds like a weird combo doesn’t it?
Here is the scent description from Yankee’s website:
The sugar cookie is all grown up—a refined interpretation with fresh ginger and chilled vodka.
Hmmm? First impression… this was a weird scent for me. Putting my nose into the wax, I didn’t think it smelled anything like a cookie. I could “maybe” smell vanilla but whatever else was in the mix made it smell very strange. Was it the ginger and vodka? I don’t know. Hoping the scent gets better once the candle is burning.
Let’s find out!
I lit this candle in a small powder room and that’s where it stayed for a good 3 days. I’m sorry folks but even after three full days of burning this scent, I had no idea what I was smelling. It wasn’t a bakery scent to me and don’t get me wrong, it didn’t smell horrible… it just smelled weird. A mix of scents I couldn’t pinpoint. Not bakery, not vodka, maybe I could smell the ginger. The overall scent was just very strange and one I don’t care to experience again. Yankee could have done better with this one.
Strength – I would rate this candle a 5 in a really small room. Wouldn’t even attempt burning it in anything larger so if you’re feeling adventurous and want to try it, go with melts or two candles burning at once.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned great, just very-very slow. Clean burning, no soot – just make sure to keep your wick trimmed before each lighting.
Closing to my review:
Sugar Cookie Martini was a two thumbs down for me. I am all for cookie scents, even from Yankee but this one was just too bizarre for my taste buds. That’s a personal choice though since I know we all have different noses and tastes. If you want to give this scent a try, I suggest you smell it first (if you can) before purchasing it. Had I smelled this candle prior to buying it, I probably wouldn’t have. Even to review it.
In closing… you win some, you lose some I guess. I purchased this candle on mega sale so it’s all good. If you’ve personally tried this candle, please post your comments below and let us know what you thought of it. I would love to know your thoughts on it. Yay or nay?
Happy candle hunting!
