Introduction to my review:
Have you tried a Mrs. Fields candle yet? Or better question… did you even know they existed? These candles aren’t the easiest to find but when you do run across some… you’ll probably be attracted to them if you’re a bakery lover. These candles are just too cute!! I grew up eating Mrs. Fields cookies so when I saw they now have candles in all their famous cookie scents… I couldn’t resist and bought one of each to try and review. I’ve already reviewed Chocolate Chip Cookie… review here.
Next up… Snickerdoodle. This candle smelled super spicy. Like a strong cinnamon cookie.
These candles are really adorable. The glass jar is in the shape of a wide cookie jar with a metal tier domed lid. The label on my candle shows the Mrs. Fields logo with snicker doodle cookies.
What did my candle smell like?
I couldn’t find a scent description for this fragrance so I’ll explain it as best I can. Cold sniff, this candle smelled all spice to me and that confused me since classic snickerdoodle cookies are more like warm sugar cookie with hints of sweet cinnamon sugar with lots of yummy vanilla undertones. At least the ones I’ve eaten and smelled anyway. What I was smelling was pure cinnamon spice… no warm bakery notes that make you crave the real deal. That’s kind of what I was hoping for.
Time to light my candle!
I chose a small bathroom to burn this candle in since the Chocolate Chip Cookie candle I reviewed last year was super light. Boy did this candle surprise the heck out of me! About 15 minutes into lighting it, I started noticing the scent, saturating my bathroom with its spicy aroma… the fragrance even traveled into the hallway and beyond so I bet this candle would be fine in a medium size room. The fragrance…. all spice. Like a warm and cozy spice cake. I wasn’t really detecting warm cookie notes but because the spiciness was so strong, it was hard to smell anything else.
I enjoyed this candle and think it’s a perfect fall fragrance. I didn’t think it smelled like a Snickerdoodle cookie at all though. This candle was solid cinnamon and spice.
I have mixed feelings about how this candle burned. The wick was fine and it did achieve decent melt pools with each burning so that part was good. The biggest negative with this candle… it produced a lot of soot even with keeping the wick trimmed each time I lit it. I didn’t like that. Candles that produce a lot of soot are messy, not healthy and generally produced from cheaper ingredients.
Closing to my review:
I did enjoy this fragrance but keeping it honest, it smelled nothing like a snickerdoodle cookie. That did disappoint me a little bit since I was hoping for more of a warm baked vanilla with cinnamon sugar notes. To me, this fragrance smelled more like a cinnamon cake, heavy on the spice.
Would I purchase this candle again? I think so, especially if I happen to be craving something spicy. I’m a little concerned about the soot issue but I‘m willing to give it one more try… if the next one produces soot again, it will be my last.
If you come across this candle (which can be hard to find)… go smell one… you may like the scent or pick one up for it’s sheer cuteness.
Happy candle hunting!
