Candlemaking is an art form as much as it is a science. We love seeing how creative chandlers can get with their craft, as it makes our hobby of candle sniffing never get old or boring. That’s one of the reasons we are so incredibly giddy over another indie company we were lucky enough to try. Our Champagne Cottage review focuses on a small business based in Alabama who seems to make candlemaking fun.

A Closer Look at Champagne Cottage

Brandi Singleton began her journey into the chandler world when she was researching candlemaking classes for her son’s birthday. The availability was limited and she really couldn’t find anything for her son. Did she let that deter her? No! Brandi ordered a kit to make candles at home. Her interest and skills grew, family and friends loved her products, and the rest, as they say, is candlemaking history!
Champagne Cottage began as a small venture in my Alabama home after researching candle making classes for my son’s birthday. With no luck finding a class for him to attend, I stumbled onto home candle making kits. As I began to delve into the process, I became intrigued. I ordered a kit and it started from there.

Products Offered

As of this writing, Champagne Cottage offers 5oz travel tins, 10oz decorative jar candles (Cheery Collection), 2.5oz clamshell wax melts, and a 4oz home fragrance spray. You can also purchase tealights (in a 4 pack), gift certificates, and wedding favors. The products we tested were a travel tin candle in the scent Celebration, a Cheery Collection candle in the scent Meet Me at the Cafe, and a home fragrance spray in the scent Monsters Aren’t Real.

Meet Me at the Cafe Candle

Our Meet Me at the Cafe candle was one of Candle Cottage’s adorable decorative jar candles. It was soooo incredibly cute, we didn’t really want to burn it! It had a “whipped” topping with imitation coffee beans and sprinkles. There was a single wick that was well placed and the candle vessel was a heavy bottom, high quality glass jar. This was all wrapped up with a twine tie, perfect for surprising a giftee or two.
The scent description reads: Who doesn’t love the smell of coffee?! Meet Me at the Cafe is a warm dark roasted hazelnut coffee blend that will have your home smelling like a village cafe. Perfect for any coffee lover!

Once I unwrapped the candle, I was met with the most amazing aroma…that jolt of smooth cup of java and what I thought were caramel notes. The candle did not disappoint once burning, either. While it was sad to see this baby burn, the consolation prize was the delicious aroma. The scent throw was fantastic for a smaller sized candle and it had a nice, clean burn.

Celebration Travel Tin

The travel tin we had to test was in their signature scent, Celebration. And that’s exactly what we wanted to do when we saw this little bundle of joy. These travel tins are truly adorable with a rounded bottom and wide mouth. The cold sniff was so bright and uplifting. It did, indeed, seem like a celebration!
The scent description reads: A beautiful blend of sweet rhubard, zesty grapefruit mixed with citrusy florals, anchored with amber and musk. This signature scent represents the heartbeat of Champagne Cottage. We celebrate all of the sweet victories in life and remain anchored in the values that founded us.

Once we lit this candle in a small sized bathroom, we understood the magic right away. The scent blend was mesmerizing and held true throughout the burn. The throw was just right for the space and this moderately strong scent. We can see why this is considered their signature scent.

I had no problems with the candle burn on this one. A nice, clean burn with a good wax melt pool and no wasted wax on the sides. This candle had a super slow burn time, too.

Monster Spray

We all know monsters aren’t real, but it never hurts to be prepared just in case. The home fragrance sprays from Candle Cottage come in amber or cobalt blue spray bottles to protect the fragrance from the light. The spray bottles are large enough to get several uses out of one but small enough to tote easily around the house from place to place. The Monsters spray smelled absolutely scrumptious when I sprayed it in the air. Sweet but not cloying, strong and a bit zesty. It was a bright, cheery scent that I can certainly see would annoy a monster or two.
The scent description reads: Fruity Loops is the featured fragrance in our Monster Spray. It will remind you of those childhood Saturday morning cartoons! The sweet orange, tangy cherry, vanilla bean + sandlewood mix smells delicious!

The scent description was pretty spot on. This smelled a lot like the Fruity Pebbles cereal to me and the scent carried for a good distance. This is also a linen spray, so I tried it on my bedsheets and didn’t want to leave the bed in the morning. A little goes a long way here, so don’t let the smaller sized bottle fool you.

What fun we had getting to know Champagne Cottage and their wonderful array of products. The amount of care and attention to detail that went into each and every product we tried is phenomenal and speaks volumes for the company themselves. They not only have wedding favors and gift sets, but they also have a fundraising program. What a well-rounded indie wax company! We’re officially hooked and we can’t wait to see what else they bring to the candle table.
