Root Beer Float Bath & Body Works Candle ReviewRoot Beer Float

By Christina Rylan

Brand: Bath & Body Works

Type: 14.5oz large 3 wick candle

Fragrance: Root Beer Float

Scent Strength: Medium

First impression of Root Beer Float:

I must say, this candle smelled pretty darn realistic. The moment I popped off the lid, a bubbly and effervescent root beer aroma wafted all around me. I could totally smell the added carbonation with the root beer and it made me smile. It was like putting my nose up to a freshly poured A&W Root beer.

Here is the scent description from the bottom of the candle:

Root Beer, Vanilla Ice Cream, Dollop of Whipped Cream.

Cold sniff, I couldn’t really smell the vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, which I would have loved. To me, this scent was solid root beer but who knows what will come to life once the candle was burning. If the vanilla and whipped cream become noticeable, woohoo!! I’ll be happy.

Let’s find out!

I lit this candle in my master bedroom and waited for the magic to begin which took all of ten minutes. The aroma… root beer all the way. You know it the moment you walk into the room. Effervescent root beer soda. The vanilla and whipped cream? Yeah, I still wasn’t smelling either. To me, this fragrance was solid root beer. Very nostalgic and fun.

My husband I must add also felt the need to put his two cents in. When he first smelled the candle, (I didn’t tell him what the scent was,) he thought it smelled like Necco wafer candies – remember those? If you don’t, do a quick internet search. Not the most flavorful candies but I can kind of/sort of see why he thought that. ? My kids? They thought it smelled like licorice at first and then they switched to those root beer barrel candies. I can see that too which means, they have good sniffers. It’s funny what each of our noses picks up on.

Strength – I would rate this candle an 8 out of 10 in a really large room. 10 in a medium to smaller room. Not bad.

How did my candle burn?

This candle started out iffy with sputtering wicks in the beginning but eventually righted itself for a clean and even burn. WOOP!! Those close calls are not fun but I’m glad it had a happy ending.

Closing to my review:

Root Beer Float was a fun and nostalgic fragrance I did enjoy. Not sure enough to purchase again but it was fun and I do recommend it. If you love soda pop scents and are after something fun this summer, check out this candle next time you’re at a Bath & Body Works store.

Happy candle hunting!
