Introduction to my review:
Have you tried any candles from Better Homes and Gardens yet? My only experience so far is with their ceramic bakery jars (which I really like)… but I just learned they’ve re-formulated their standard apothecary jars and are now touting “Highly scented – our best candle yet.” – so with all their new yummy and fresh summer scents… I was looking forward to finding out. I bought quite a few to test and review.
First up… Raspberry Linzer Cookie. I’m a cookie lover so this was an easy purchase for me.
What did my Raspberry Linzer Cookie look like?
These candles resemble Yankee candles only with a Better Homes and Gardens label and the best part… they’re a fraction of the cost. Like – a serious fraction. A Yankee jar this size – 30 dollars. This candle – $8. That’s pretty significant. One thing I’m noticing… the wax isn’t filled all the way to the top of the jars with these candles… I don’t know why.
The wax color of my candle was a light tan and my candle had one centered wick.
What did my Raspberry Linzer Cookie candle smell like?
I searched high and low for a scent description for this candle but couldn’t find one. Descriptions aren’t a huge requirement but they’re always nice to reference when reviewing. The picture on the label shows powdered sugar cookies with fresh Raspberry jam in the middle. Oh yummy!
Cold sniff… very nice! I smelled a sweet raspberry scent… almost a little on the tart side. And the best part… nothing fake or chemically about it… just a sweet raspberry. I was impressed so far.
I lit this candle early morning (in a small bathroom) and I’d say it took almost a full day to reach a complete melt pool… this is a super slow burning candle. The scent was really nice and smelled just as it did cold… a sweet and sugary raspberry scent. I wasn’t really making out any bakery notes which would have been nice but all in all… this was a pretty good fragrance.
Strength… this candle gave a light but steady scent throw. It was perfect burning in a small room. One a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate this candle a 4.
How did my Raspberry Linzer Cookie candle burn?
This candle burned pretty good. It was very slow burning and took a long time to reach a full melt pool. Once it did, it burned perfect. Very comparable to Yankee. I did have to stay vigilant and keep the wick trimmed or the flame would get too big but other than that… perfect and clean burn.
Closing to my review:
I enjoyed this candle and fragrance and would definitely buy it again. It was sweet, fruity and a nice summery scent. The label on the candle says “limited addition” so if you were thinking about giving this candle a try, I wouldn’t wait too much longer. I can’t tell you how many times that’s happened to me.
Better Homes and Gardens candles are priced so reasonably, it’s easy buying a candle (or two) every time you’re at Walmart. I’m really happy about all the new scents they’re offering too… Raspberry Linzer Cookies is just one of many summery scents available so check them out next time you’re near a store.
Happy candle hunting!

I absolutely love this fragrance. I prefer candles but actually like the melts better with this one. It’s stronger. Very hard to find though. I haven’t found this in a candle or melts in a long long time. I hope they bring it back.
