First Impression:

This is my second experience with Food Network scented melts and so far, I’m liking them. I purchased several when shopping at Kohl’s several months ago and couldn’t wait to get these babies in my melter. They don’t offer a huge selection – maybe a handful but what they do carry smells pretty yummy. All their scents are bakery oriented since we’re talking the “Food Network” here and be forewarned… if you’re a melt lover (like me) – these melts are kind of expensive if you purchase them from Kohl’s. They’re priced at $6.99 for a little clamshell pack. I don’t know about you but that’s pretty pricy considering I can head over to Walmart and buy the same quality melts for $2. Luckily, I purchased mine on sale so it wasn’t too bad. I did do an online search and this brand is available from other outlets at an average price of $3.95. That’s not too bad.

When I saw Lemon Meringue Pie hanging on display, it wasn’t even a question whether to buy this one. I LOVE lemon scents, especially bakery ones so I couldn’t wait to review this one. It smelled super lemony… my favorite!

Melting:

First sniff… the wax smelled like a really sweet lemon. I liked it based off cold sniff alone. There is a little blurb on the label that reads:

“A sweet slice of heaven”candle-lemon-meringue-pie

I also found a more detailed description online:

“Tart, sweet lemon cream in a flaky crust with toasted, golden-brown meringue.”

Sounds pretty wonderful to me!! I used the entire clamshell (3 cubes each) in two melters in my great room. It took a good 10 minutes to really start noticing the fragrance once the wax fully melted and boy was it lemony fresh. To me, this scent was more of a tart lemon rather than bakery… I couldn’t really make out the flaky crust but that’s okay… it was still a nice lemon fragrance. Very fresh and hints of sugar.

Surprisingly, the scent throw on this was not as strong as I thought it would be. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d say this was a 6. Usually lemon scents are medium or stronger but this stayed consistently light the entire time I had this melting.

Would I purchase this scent again? Maybe. I don’t know… I liked it – it was a great lemon scent but I wasn’t super excited about it either.

If you love lemon scents and  you’re near a Kohl’s store… smell this scent and you decide. Who knows… you may walk away with one… plus a few others. 🙂

Happy melting!
