Key Lime Pie scented candle review – Glade
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Glade
Type: 3.8oz candle
Fragrance: Key Lime Pie
Cost: $3.00
Scent Strength: Light
Introduction to my review:
This is my first Glade candle review. Hard to believe since this line is so accessible and reasonably priced. Being totally honest here… I’ve been wanting to review this brand for a long time (years in fact)…they’re everywhere so I know they’re popular… but the truth is… all the candles I’ve smelled have never appealed to me, not one. They’ve either smelled fake, cheap or not very authentic so I don‘t even bother trying.
Which brings me to present day. I was in Walmart last week and saw a new display of Glade candles (yes, I do still smell them, I just don‘t buy any)… one display in particular had these pretty green ones that caught my attention and when I put my nose up to one… I was pleasantly surprised how good it smelled. It was Key Lime Pie. I was excited I finally found a Glade candle that smelled good enough to eat. There was nothing fake or chemically about this fragrance… it smelled like a sweet and creamy lime… it smelled pretty good. WOOT!! I finally found a fragrance worth purchasing… I was so excited!
What did my Glade candle look like?
The candle is pretty small, 3.8 ounces in size – it’s about the same size as a large flower pot votive. The wax color was a light green and had one centered wick. See pictures for visual reference.
What did my Key Lime Pie candle from Glade smell like?
The paper packaging covering the candle says “limited addition” so not sure how long this candle will be around. It’s too bad it’s seasonal because it smells great!! I couldn’t find a scent description for this candle and I can’t find it online either which tells me, if you want to try one… head to a local store and fast. I have a feeling that’s the only place you’ll find it and it won’t be around long.
First sniff… the wax smelled like a sweet bakery lime. I’ve tried my fair share of key lime fragrances out there, it’s one of my favorites and this version smelled pretty darn good and right in line with other popular brands. Right on Glade!!
Because of the size, I stuck to a small powder room to burn this candle in and I’m glad I did. The candle had a tough time reaching a full melt pool in the beginning (it tunneled at first) but it eventually righted itself and burned pretty good from then on out. The scent throw was light but strong enough to fragrance my small bathroom and what I smelled was really nice. A fresh, clean and sweet lime. Very smooth and yummy.
This candle struggled somewhat – each day I burned it, it had a hard time reaching a full melt pool and at times I had to push wax off the glass wall into the melt pool so it all got used up. Not really a huge issue but one I wanted to point out.
This candle lasted a lot longer than I expected too. I burned this candle a full three days which for a small 3oz candle is pretty good. So you definitely get your money’s worth.
I’m really glad I finally had a chance to burn a Glade candle. It was long overdue. I enjoyed this fragrance and given the chance, I would probably buy it again. As a matter of fact, I’m now paying more attention to newer and limited addition fragrances. Those seem to be more authentic. If you like Key Lime Pie fragrances and you happen to come across this candle, smell it… I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
I’ll be doing a few more Glade reviews coming up… I found 4 more scents that are limited additions that smelled pretty good. I’m so excited!!
So until then…
Happy candle hunting!

OMG I loved Glade’s Key Lime Pie. My grocery store carried it and I went back and bought all of them to keep on hand. So glad I did because they weren’t around for very long. I hope hope this scent comes back.
I’ve tried this candle and it smells good. I can’t find it anymore though.
