Pumpkin Cookie Crunch and Peppermint Swirl Candles – Cedar Creek Candles

Introduction to my review:

I really have a good time browsing new (at least to me) candle sites I’ve never tried before. It’s fun venturing into the unknown when trying new companies. Cedar Creek Candles offers 100% all natural soy candles in quite a variety of jar sizes as well as votives and melts. Their scent list is pretty nice with over 100 scents to choose from. I love lengthy scent lists… it makes it all the more fun to plot and plan your next order.

Their website recently had a complete makeover and it’s awesome!  Very nice earth-tone colors with a nice design and layout. The links to all their various pages are located up top under the main header… when you’re ready to check out their candles, click on “our store” which will take you to various pictures. When your mouse hovers over the picture, it will tell you which product and size it is (helpful to know when shopping.) From there, when you click on the picture, on the bottom left of the picture, click on “go to link” which will take you to that specific product page. That seems like a lot of steps and I had to play around to figure that out but I think they’re still working out the kinks and quirks so keep that in mind while looking around.

ETA… just went back to the site and there is now a drop down menu below “Our store” which takes you to all the scents available. From there you can click on whichever scent interests you to purchase the various sizes offered. That seems much easier. 🙂

I stuck to my favorite themes and picked a yummy bakery treat called Pumpkin Cookie Crunch and a festive one for Christmas called Peppermint Swirl. Both candles smelled AMAZING!!!! I was sent super cute 10oz mason jars for this review.

What did my candles from Cedar Creek look like?

These candles are really cute. They’re little square mason jars with rustic pewter colored screw top lids. There is a round white label on the lid showing the Cedar Creek Logo and then a square kraft label with the scent name. Very country and rustic. I loved the look. Pumpkin Cookie Crunch was a burnt orange, Peppermint Swirl a creamy pure white. Both candles had one wick.

What did my Cedar Creek candles smell like?

Pumpkin Cookie Crunch

My youngest son happened to be home when this package arrived and was present for the box opening. The lid on Pumpkin Cookie Crunch had fallen off in transit so  the most yummy and delectable bakery scent surrounded us the moment we opened the box. We both immediately zeroed in on this candle and were (of course) proclaiming the appropriate moans and mmmms over how wonderful this candle smelled. My son absolutely loved it. Here is the scent description from Cedar Creek’s website:

“A super rich pumpkin cookie fragrance loaded with caramelized sugar, whipped crème, French vanilla, cardamom, cinnamon and Vermont maple sugar.”

I can’t remember now why I picked this specific scent to review… I think maybe because it had “cookie” in the name (I adore my house smelling like cookies!) The word pumpkin before it was just an added bonus. This candle smelled so yummy burning. I decided to light it up in a small bathroom so the scent would saturate the room. Mmmmm! It was perfect there.  I came back about 10 minutes later to a full bodied buttery pumpkin cookie aroma. I could smell just about everything in the description… the whipped cream, the maple sugar with loads of  cinnamon and creamy vanilla and pumpkin. This wasn’t pumpkin pie or pumpkin pie filling… this was a buttery cookie scent. LOVED IT!!!!!

Strength – for this size candle and the room I had it burning it, I’d say it gave a nice medium throw. Not sure how the bigger candles will fair but this candle filled a small room with plenty of scent. I was happy.

Peppermint Swirl

Mmmmm!! This is my favorite scent to burn during the Christmas holidays. In my house, it’s a universally loved scent so I can get away with burning it anytime I want. It’s festive, sweet, strong and smells just like candy canes. Scent description from Cedar Creek’s website:

“A minty and bold fragrance that has a cool crisp peppermint base entwined with just a touch of sweet vanilla.”

This candle smelled perfect when I popped open the lid for the first time. It smelled exactly like a candy cane… minty, sweet and yummy! I knew I was going to love this one. – – I stuck to the same room when lighting this candle and happily… it performed beyond perfect there. When I finally came back to check on it, maybe 30 minutes later… I was greeted to a wonderful crisp and sweet peppermint fragrance. I would stop often just to breathe it in every time I walked by the room. I love the cooling effects of peppermint candles, you can feel a light chill in the air while you’re smelling the sweet scent that accompanies it. It’s a perfect holiday scent for me!

Scent strength – this was about the same as Pumpkin Cookie Crunch… it gave a steady medium throw. It wasn’t super strong but you definitely noticed it when you walked into the room.

Loved this candle… would totally buy it again.

How did my candles burn?

My candles burned perfect. No wasted wax, complete melt pools and no soot. PERFECT!

Closing to my review:

This was a really great experience and I enjoyed both candles tremendously. I got lucky and picked two perfect scents and loved them both equally. Pumpkin Cookie Crunch will satisfy that bakery craving (should you have one) to the “T” and Peppermint Swirl was a perfect crisp candy cane scent for those who want some holiday cheer that aren’t strong cinnamon or pine tree type scents. That  be me!!
