Candlefind Says
A carrot cake candle that will have you yearning for some real cake.
Pros
- Even, clean burn
- Perfect for gift-giving
Cons
- Lids separate from boxed candle
After being impressed with the Joyful Mango candle from Josephine + Joy candles, I couldn’t wait to do this Carrot Cake candle review. Carrot cake is my absolute favorite dessert, and to have it in candle form was pure joy. Would it live up to the expectations? Let’s find out!

Packaging/Presentation
The candles from Josephine + Joy are housed in a lovely gift box that encourage you to Walk Towards Your Light. The candle itself fit snugly into the box, with a classy wooden lid as a separate piece.
The jars are squat apothecary jars with double wicks (yay!) and smooth, white soy wax. There is no dye coloring in these candles. The label clearly identifies the company and scent names, wrapping around the entire jar. Still, the label was easily removable if you prefer the clean jar look.

Authenticity
I was over the moon optimistic for this Carrot Cake candle once I took a cold sniff. It. Smelled. Great! I could smell the deliciousness of a creamy buttercream frosting the most. Yum!
This just pulled from the oven scent is light and sweet. Top notes: pineapple, dark brown sugar; Middle notes: cardamom, carrot, cinnamon; Base notes: clove, vanilla
Once lit, my Carrot Cake candle came to full life. It pulled me in with the sweet buttercream frosting, but there was so much more. I could smell hints of the brown sugar and some nuttiness (though nuts weren’t specifically listed in the scent description). While I don’t prefer pineapple in my real life carrot cake, the addition of the pineapple notes in this scent made it more full bodied and a little more sweet. The spices kept the scent grounded and from being overly sweet. It was very authentic smelling and delicious!

Scent Strength & Scent Throw
As far as the scent strength of my Carrot Cake candle, I would say it was light to moderately strong. I had it in a medium sized bedroom and was able to smell it while in that room, staying contained in that space. I could smell it lingering once the candle was snuffed out, too.

Burn Performance
As with my Joyful Mango candle, this Carrot Cake candle took a long time to get to a full wax melt pool. The cotton wicks were relatively long to start with, so they did require a good trim before lighting. I had to continue to trim my wicks every 2-3 hours to make sure my flames stayed under control. The burn itself was clean and even.

Conclusion
This Carrot Cake candle was divine. It was an authentic fragrance with just enough scent strength to be enjoyable without being obnoxious. If scenting up a large room or open floor plan, I would suggest two of these candles on opposite sides to be sure that the candle doesn’t get lost in the space. Although I would have preferred the lid to be on the candle in the box, I do understand that the owner is moving to different gift boxes that can achieve just that. I can’t wait to try more fragrances from this indie brand!
