Introduction to my review:
As soon as I pulled this candle out to review and my boys saw it, they were instantly excited. WoodWick candles are well known is this house… we all love them. The sound effects that accompany these candles are so different and crowd pleasers. My kids like to watch from a safe distance and listen to the sound these candles make. It sounds like a crackling blow torch.
As soon as I saw Bakery Cupcake on Virginia Candle Brands scent list, I knew I wanted it. I’m a bakery girl and any scent that has the word “cupcake” in it is a forgone conclusion I’ll be purchasing it. LOVE cupcake scents!!
What did my WoodWick candle look like?
These candles are so pretty. The shape of the vessel is tall and in an almost hourglass shape. Wide at the top, tapers in the middle and widens out again at the bottom. The lid is made of a dark wood that fits loosely on the candle so never pick up the candle by the lid. That’s a *waxtastrophe* waiting to happen. My candle was 22oz, the color of the wax a creamy ivory… the wick was made of wood and in a “t” shape. Very cool!!
What did my Bakery Cupcake candle smell like?
Mmmmmm!!!!! As soon as I popped off the lid to smell the wax, the aroma of moist and sweet vanilla cupcake hit my nose. Nothing synthetic or fake about this scent… just pure and yummy vanilla cake. Scent description from Virginia Candle Brands website:
“A sweet treat of moist yellow cake topped with rich buttercream icing.”
Great description and that’s exactly what this candle smelled like. Yummy yellow cake with sugary and sweet buttercream frosting. My favorite scent EVER!
I stuck to a small bathroom to test this candle and it pretty much stayed there from beginning to end. In general, I prefer burning WoodWick candles in smaller rooms since I want the maximum scent results. WoodWick candles have never really been big room fillers for me and so it proved true with this candle. The scent throw was pretty light but boy did it smell yummy and authentic… a sweet bakery vanilla cupcake scent. Mmmmm!!!
If you love sweet vanilla scents… you’ll like this candle.
How did my Vanilla Cupcake WoodWick candle burn?
My candle burned PERFECT and it was so pretty to watch burning through the whole life of the candle!! I love these “T” WoodWicks. The flame is solid and a full melt pool is achieved really fast. This candle burned clean and even all the way down to the bottom. I did have to shave the wick each time before lighting to keep the flame at a perfect level and boy did I have to stay vigilant with that. If I didn’t, the flame got a little to high.
Closing to my review:
I really love WoodWick candles and totally recommend them. They’re different and fun not to mention beautiful candles. I always burn mine in my power room which is small so I get
a perfect scent throw every time. Plus, the room is close to our living area where the majority of my family spends our time. The close proximity allows us all to enjoy the delightful sounds these candles make.
I really liked Bakery Cupcake and would for sure purchase it again. It smelled like a sweet and delicious vanilla cake. If you decide to give this candle a try… keep in mind it’s lightly scented so stick to a smaller room when burning it.

Will not stay lit more than a few minutes. I expected more from such a pricy candle.

If you purchased it through Virginia Gift Brands, contact them to see if they’ll replace it. If you purchased it from a store, return it.
Great review and I agree. This candle was light for me as well but I burned it in a small room to compensate. I just love the sound these candles make.
