Introduction to my Full Moon Candle Review:

It is officially Spring. Here in the South, Spring comes early but it doesn’t stay around for long. It soon gives way to a hot, humid Summertime, so I relish every moment of opened windows, with the smell of orange blossoms in the air, and a wisp of a fleetingly cool breeze. I like Spring all the more, because it is so brief. Now, the best way I can think of to squeeze every last drop of Spring out of the season is through scent, so when I saw that Full Moon Candle Co. was adding some new fruity and floral scents to their line-up, I was ready to do a bunny hop. It’s no secret to my family and friends that I am already a huge fan of Full Moon Candles. So, as you can imagine, I was thrilled to be able to give their new Spring candle scents a spin. They offer highly scented pillars, votives and now, clamshell melts in a wide variety of scents. Full Moon Candle melts, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loverThe scent list is well thought out and each scent is researched and painstakingly developed by Full Moon Candle Co. until it is perfected, so I always know I’m getting a specially made scented product. I look forward to their scents because they are mostly special blends that can’t be found anywhere else.

The website has a clean, simple design, with green and olive colors. Products are organized by scent category and the pages are easy to navigate. The scents are described beautifully and the photos can be enlarged by just clicking on them.

Time and time again, Full Moon Candle Co. has shown their commitment to quality and customer service. You see it in the packaging and personal thank you notes… in the samples that seem tailor made to their customer’s preferances, and in the fast, friendly communication.

These are the reasons why I’ve become a regular customer… so I’m happy to share my experiences with the new Spring scents.

What do my candles & melts from Full Moon Candles look like?

Full Moon Candles melts, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversI have to say that opening a package from Full Moon is always such a treat.

I received a 9″ chocolate brown pillar in the Chocolate scent, expertly wrapped in tissue. I think I may have a thing for tissue paper or something. I just love wonderful smelling treasures wrapped in tissue paper. (see each scent for a picture of each pillar)The pillar was perfectly poured with an elegant peel off label on the side. I highly recommend giving these pillars a try, even if you have never burned pillars before… they are sure to please.I also received clamshell style melts that come six cubes to a pack. They were colored appropriately to match each scent. Hyacinth was dark purple, and Grapefruit was a pale pink.

The clamshell melts from Full Moon Candles are the kind of hard wax that snaps when you break apart the cubes. I really dig this, I don’t know why, but I actually get a huge kick out of snapping a fresh clamshell. Hey… I get my jollies where I find them.

Grapefruit Rosemary scented pillar review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversGrapefruit Rosemary:

This scent seemed perfect for Spring. Full Moon Candles describes it this way:

“In one word . . . Refreshing!! Juicy Grapefruit carefully blended with a sprig of Rosemary for balance, you’ll find this to be uplifting and clean.”

Here in Florida, grapefruits are plentiful. They practically grow on trees… wait, they do grow on trees. I know a thing or two about what a grapefruit should smell like but just to be absolutely sure, I went out and got a fresh one for comparison. This scent is so incredibly spot on with a fresh, juicy grapefruit it’s uncanny! Strong and good, without the sugar.I enlisted the help of my children for this review. I sometimes wonder if, as adults, Grapefruit Rosemary scented pillar review, Full Moon Candle Review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversthey will sit and reminisce about their mother’s scented wax experiments… hopefully they will remember it fondly… and not in therapy.

So, for my test, I first held up a freshly cut grapefruit half for everyone to sniff, and next the melt bowl from my electric melter. The reaction I heard most was… “Wow. How’d they do that?”, so I am convinced that the grapefruit smell was truly authentic. As a reward for the hard work, we got to eat the grapefruit, but with sugar sprinkled on top, of course.

This is a very bold, unsweetened scent. The Rosemary softens the scent ever so slightly, while not adding any sweetness at all. This is a super tart, super sharp fragrance. Grapefruit, itself, is the type of scent that may not be for everyone. I see grapefruit as being either a love it or hate it type of scent. Me? I am firmly on the love it side, and this Grapefruit/Rosemary is the reason why.

Hyacinth scented pillar review, Full Moon Candles, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversHyacinth

I like how Full Moon Candles will sometimes explain a scent’s origin or history. Here they write:

“Hyacinth is native to the SE Mediterranean region. This new floral is intense & rich. Not for the faint of heart. Intoxicating floral surrounded by fresh greens.”

Gather ’round, all my floral peeps. You don’t want to miss out on this scent. Oh my goodness! This is a floral scent lovers dream! The Hyacinth is so clear and true, it’s really remarkable. It is not a blend of florals, but a singular showcased flower – The Hyacinth in all it’s glory! The description of intense & rich are no joke. I found this scent to be the strongest of the new Spring scents, but not perfumy, and not headache inducing either. It is a bold yet beautiful scent.

Two cubes from a clamshell filled the house with scent…my large main area, down the hall, into the bedrooms… everywhere I went, Hyacinth was there, making my home smell fabulous. Ah… Spring is definitely in the air!

Vanilla Pear scented melt review, Full Moon Candles, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversVanilla Pear

Here is just part of the description from Full Moon Candles website:

“Lush delicious Bartlett Pear fused with smooth, calming, sensual Vanilla. Relaxing yet invigorating at the same time.”

It goes on to note that this scent has a lighter quality to it.Vanilla Pear scented melt review, Full Moon Candles, Candlefind.com, the site for candle lovers

I would agree about this scent being one of the lighter selections, but after all… it is Pear and Vanilla… I would expect it to be on the light side.

More vanilla than pear, this scent is creamy and dreamy, with a fresh bite of pear. After the bold fragrances I had been sampling all week, the Vanilla Pear was a wonderful change of pace.

I don’t usually choose a pear scent, and I probably still wouldn’t gravitate towards them, but I did enjoy this scent. I got a medium throw from two melts in a 24 watt melter, and a good throw in a tealight melter too, that lasted half a day at it’s full scent strength. It carried on for the remainder of the day but was not as strong as it began.

Chococlate scented melt review from Full Moon Candles, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversChocolate

I like this description from Full Moon Candle Co:

“Rich Dark Deep Chocolate. Imagine rich brownie batter layered with deep dark chocolate then infused with an incredible edible amber!”

I thought this scent smelled like rich brownies baking in the oven… so much so that I was going to save a couple of melts for April Fool’s Day to trick my husband. Brownies are his favorite desert and since I’m always looking to pull a fast one on him, I was formulating my dastardly plan. I was pretty pleased with myself too, but he proved harder to fool.He came in the house while I was testing this scent and asked me about the tart I Chocolate scented melt review, Full Moon Candles, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loverswas melting. Even though I thought it smelled exactly like brownies baking, the Brownie King was not fooled. He knew right away that it was one of my tart scents. Drat! Foiled again!

All joking aside, I certainly enjoyed this Chocolate scent, both in the melts and the beautiful 9″ pillar. It was almost cruel how delicious this melt smelled. I, for one, began craving sweets, which I’ve been trying to avoid lately.

The description reads that the scent is infused with an edible amber note, but I couldn’t detect it. To me, it was just a straight, simple, delicious smelling chocolate.

This is a strong scent that filled my largest area. The melts were stronger than the pillar in this scent. The pillar was well scented and I actually preferred it’s more subtle strength over the bolder melt strength. For someone who wants the strongest scent possible, I would recommend the melts in this case.

Honeysuckle scented melt review, Full Moon Candles, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversHoneysuckle

Here is the description from the website:

“Honeysuckle vines in full bloom, toying with your olfactory senses. Bring the fragrant outdoors inside your own private space with this intoxicating floral”

Oh, sweet Honeysuckle. This is such an innocent breezy scent. This scent makes me want to find a hammock some where and just laze away the afternoon. I can just hear the bees buzzing around my head?… I hope those Honeysuckle scented melt review, Full Moon Candles, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversare bees. This is a day-dreamy scent that made it impossible for me to get anything accomplished while it was melting. From now on I will save this scent for the weekends, because all I did while I was enjoying the Honeysuckle was gaze out the window and imagine different shapes in the clouds.

This scent didn’t actually stand out as being vastly different than other Honeysuckle scents that I’ve smelled, but it was a good solid fragrance, and I would order it again. This scent is very airy and sunny, and it’s one even non-floral fans could appreciate. It’s very easy on the nose and pleasant, like a long summer afternoon.

Though the scent quality was light and airy, the scent strength was anything but light. It easily filled my main living area and beyond with only two melt cubes at a time.

Candle flameHow did my candles from Full Moon Candles burn?

The melts performed well. They are a harder wax that benefited from a hotter temperature melter. The pillar burned perfectly and was lots of fun. I like to “hug” my candles by pressing the wax in from the edges, so I enjoy pillars immensely. Full Moon’s pillars are some of the best I’ve found and are a favorite in my home.

Bonus Potpourri Scent:

Bam! A surprise bonus review. Ha! I couldn’t finish this review without telling you about Full Moon Candle Company’s potpourri. I received a sample of their Nature Walk scented potpourri with this last order.

I’ve not been a fan of potpourri in the past, having only limited experience sniffing Full Moon Candles Potpourri, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversthe dime store variety or the mass produced kind. So, it’s a product that I wouldn’t have thought to order. Well, I should have known that Full Moon Candle Company’s potpourri would be far different and far superior to any potpourri I had sniffed before. Ahhhh… This is what potpourri is supposed to be like… who knew? I found out that it takes Full Moon Candle Co. about six weeks to perfectly blend a batch of their unique potpourri. The exclusive Nature Walk scent is woodsy and fresh, with a hint of citrus and green moss, and the fragrance seems to penetrate down deep into the pods. When I smell it, it has such a complex, layered scent quality… incredible!… and long lasting.

The pods come from all around the world and are a pleasing mix of green moss bits and dried seed pod, brown bark and tiny pine cones. It looks very pretty and elegant. I keep it directly in front of me at my desk. I am so hooked on this stuff, and I just had to write about this new find.

Closing to my review…

I’m happy that Spring is here again. For me, Spring means flowers, and Full Moon Candles has them in abundance. I adored the Hyacinth scent from the new Spring choices, and the deliciously lazy Honeysuckle. TheGrapefruit Rosemary was an eyeFull Moon scented pillar review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle lovers opener and was so refreshing.

I enjoyed all of the Spring scents from Full Moon Candle, and my shopping experience, as always, was a pleasure from start to finish. I will most definitely be back for more of these scents. Spring has only just sprung, and Summer is on it’s way. These fresh scents are a perfect match for the seasons ahead.

-Happy Spring sniffing…

~ Julia
