Intro To My Candle Review
I’m a Southern girl through and through and I’ve had my share of sweet potato pie (and then some…). When one of my favorite companies – Swan Creek Candles – decided to add a sweet potato pie scent to their lineup, I knew this candle was destined for my shopping cart. Swan Creek makes some beautiful candles and wax melts and the new Weathered Wood collection looked AMAZING! I ordered a few items from Swan Creek, but this was the first one I just had to try.
First Impressions of My Candle
This particular candle was from their Weathered Wood Pottery Collection. First let me say – this candle was impressive. It was massive and heavy in my hand. The look of it – oh my! What a way to make a statement, Swan Creek. The pottery had some texture to it, making it look and feel good. This was their large candle in this line, so 26 ounces of wax. There was a double wick, which really made me happy. I knew a candle this size would work better with two wicks.
As far as the scent? This candle started throwing the minute I unpacked it! I could smell a sweet molasses scent and some buttery crust. Here’s the scent description from Swan Creek:

Oh yeah! I thought I smelled molasses, but I’m guessing it must have been the caramel and vanilla. In any case, it sure smelled good!
I lit this candle in a back room and left it to do its thing. It was not long before I started smelling the sweet potato pie goodness – it was sooooo good! A deep, heavy, syrupy caramel scent with just enough buttery pie crust. lI wasn’t getting the orange essential oils. Still, it didn’t matter because this candle smelled so good!
As this candle continued to burn, the notes actually got heavier. This scent was full bodied and definitely in-your-face. I had this in a back room, but this candle really belonged in a large, open area. Maybe the smaller one wouldn’t be so overpowering for a bedroom or office.
How Did My Candle Burn?
I let this candle burn for quite some time and never did get a full, full wax melt pool. This candle was square and I always have trouble getting wax to melt all the way to the corners. But most of the surface melted and it gave off a really good scent throw. I’d say the scent strength was very strong.
I loved the way the candle burned, save for the corner wax thing. Great, even burn with no black sooting noted. The wicks were sooo easy to maintain. A slow burner, this candle lasted well over the 60 hour stated burn time. Score!
Closing To My Candle Review
I think I loved the candle vessel as much as the candle scent on this one. The pottery jar is perfect to reuse for all sorts of things. Mine is storing pens on an office desk.
As far as the scent, I’d give it two thumbs way up. The scent was authentic to me but very heavy. You really have to love bakery scents in order to like this candle. If you do, though, this one is a definite treat.
