Spring has sprung, and that means spring type candles and decor at Bath & Body Works. I’ve let my retail candle obsession die down a bit, but I always seem to be sucked back in by B&BW. The awesome sales and super cute decor have me filling my cart every season, despite my vows of abstinence. This year, Lemon Cake Pop just called my name, so I was quick to add it to one of our many Bath & Body Works candle reviews.
Lemon Cake Pop, Bath & Body Works
The cuteness factor of this candle was top notch. It was a bright, sunny yellow that was perfect for the start of Spring. There was an ornate label on the front that appeared holographic. So pretty!
This was their 14.5oz 3-wick soy blend candle with a gold, decorative lid. The bottom label housed the scent description along with some of the other usual candle acknowledgements. The wicks on this baby were fairly thin and the wax had a smooth appearance.
The cold sniff on this candle was delicious – sweet and slightly tangy. It smelled more like a lemon glaze frosting that any cake. Looking at the scent description:
Frosted Citrus Glaze, Vanilla Cake Pop, Sugar Crystals with Essential Oils
I would definitely say the scent description was accurate minus the cake…but that’s a pretty big minus! The smell was yummy, but it did lack the bit of vanilla cake scent that I was longing for. I was hoping that once I lit it, there would be a difference but – nope.
Scent Strength & Scent Throw
This was a fairly light candle scent, which was a bit disappointing. Light, airy, and sweet. The throw was pretty good – I could smell the scent through a living area in an open floor plan, but I do wish that the scent was stronger.
This candle burned really well. I had a full wax melt pool in a short time due to the three wicks. The wax melted all the way to the edges and there was a thin, even melt pool. The candle didn’t give off any black soot, but the flames did get pretty big if I burned it for more than 3 hours at a time. The wicks had the mushrooms at the end post-burn. I’m downgrading this one a little on the burn performance because of the fact that it burned so quickly.
I liked the Lemon Cake Pop candle from Bath & Body Works – I didn’t love it. And at over $24 per candle – especially one that burns so quickly – I really should love it. So no…this is not a candle I would repurchase. At least not at full price. Maybe if this were a $10 candle I would buy it again. Still…I’m glad I tried it and it gave me an excuse to buy the cute bunny ear candle holder!
