Brand: Goose Creek
Type: 24oz Halloween Candle
Fragrance: Ghost Stories
Scent Strength: Light
First impression of Ghost Stories:
Ghost Stories was a last-minute purchase for me. Basically, I saw it, read the description and fell in love. Fresh baked cookies?! Say no more!!
Here is the scent description for Ghost Stories:
Spooky stories are being told as the delightful aroma of warm, fresh baked cookies fill the air.
Top: Iced Vanilla Cookie, Whipped Buttercream
Mid: Warm Vanilla Bean
Base: Powdered Sugar, Soft Caramel
Vanilla cookie! Whipped buttercream! Powdered Sugar! Warm vanilla bean! Soft caramel! Oh yes!!! That sounds like one heck of a cookie and I’m crossing my fingers this candle smells exactly like all of that combined. I wouldn’t mind munching on these cookies with a hot cup of tea on Halloween night. Who needs candy?
Smelling the wax, I was a little perplexed. There was a clear sweetness to the wax but I also smelled a light perfume note in the mix as well. A perfume cookie? Lol! I hope not!! Hoping that goes away once the candle is burning.
Let’s find out!
I lit my Ghost Stories candle in a small room to start out. I came back an hour later and the fragrance was pretty darn light, so light, I decided to move it into an even smaller room – my powder room. From then on out, a light and sugary cookie scent filled my powder room with aroma. On a happy note, the perfume notes I first detected did go away and all I could smell was a warm bakery scent. Another happy note, everything in the description was there. The warm vanilla cookie, buttercream, powdered sugar with hints of sweet caramel. It smelled really good. Now for the negative – the aroma stayed very light, even in my tiny powder room. I would walk into my bathroom and the aroma simply teased me. When I got close to the candle and sniffed… Mmmm!! Cookie galore!! Move away from the candle and it goes back to a very subtle fragrance. Not going to lie, that bummed me out. This candle smelled really good, it just needed to be much stronger to really enjoy.
Which brings me to strength – in a small room, I would rate Ghost Stories a 3/4 out of 10 and in a really tiny room. A medium room was a 1 out of 10. Not very strong at all.
How did my Ghost Stories candle burn?
This candle burned great. Zero wick issues. I didn’t even have to do any wick trimming at all. Clean burn from beginning to end.
Closing to my review:
Ghost Stories from Goose Creek was the perfect and sweet cookie scent, it just lacked the strength required to even scent a small room. At least that was my experience anyway. And then I got to thinking… maybe that was Goose Creek’s plan all along. (Joking) The scent name is about Ghost Stories… ghosts are invisible or barely there right? That was this scent! Perfect name!!
If you give this scent a try, I hope you achieve a better result than I did. I loved the scent! Just wished it was stronger.
Burn Performance: 5/5
