Pomegranate Delight, Lone Star Candles & More

As we try to introduce more soy candle reviews on the website, I’m always pleased to try different brands. The nice, clean burns are welcome in too-often cramped hotel rooms. When I spoke with the owner of Lone Star Candles & More, I could feel their love and appreciation for high quality products. Pomegranate Delight from Lone Star Candles & More is one of the three I was sent to try. 

The Pomegranate Delight candle I had was a three-wick candle referred to on their site as their status jar. The candle was reminiscent of the typical look and feel of the famous 3-wick candles from Bath & Body Works, except it was more tall than wide and had a nice, heavy base. The label on front clearly displayed the company name and scent and would be easy to remove, if that’s your thing. The bronze lid was an elegant touch.  The wax itself was colored this gorgeous deep red color that was a perfect match for the scent. The three wicks on this baby were fairly short to start, so I would advise to check them before you go into auto-trim-the-wick mode. 

My first whiff was like I was sticking my nose into a bowl of juicy berries. Ahhhh! Pomegranate has this bittersweetness to my nose and I definitely got that on cold whiff. I could smell a hint of spices – maybe cinnamon? It was a great mix on cold sniff and fairly strong, making me very hopeful for the actual burn. 

I decided to light this candle in a large, open space, as I expected it to throw well with the large mouth and 3 wicks. I was NOT disappointed on this one! Once this candle was burning, I started smelling the tangy, juicy pomegranate scent right away. The warm spices soon followed and made this scent rich and oh-so-delicious. I was in pomegranate heaven! As the candle burned more, the tanginess of the pomegranate mellowed out even more and it was more of a sweet with warm spices. I was fairly sure there was cinnamon in there, but otherwise? Not sure. I just knew it smelled really, really good. The scent itself was strong and the throw was fantastic – I could smell it all throughout the open area it was in and on down the hallways. I did take this candle on the road with me and it performed well no matter where I let it sit. Score!

It didn’t take long to get a full wax melt pool, with the pool being deep and even. It was such a beautiful wax melt pool…mesmerizing, indeed! The burn was super clean and there was no wasted wax on the sides. I did the typical candle maintenance of trimming the wicks in between burns, but otherwise this candle was easy peasy to burn.

I thoroughly enjoyed my introduction to Lone Star Candles & More. This was a clean burning soy candle that certainly delighted our senses. Some pomegranate candles are more candy-like…I found this a more “grown-up” pomegranate scent and one that I would welcome to burn anytime of the year. The only caution I would have for this candle is that the wicks were fairly short to begin with. I didn’t want to do an initial trim because I didn’t want my wicks too short and to drown out. This was not a problem as my candle burned flawlessly…just be careful if you’re a diehard trim-on-first-light kind of candle person.

Another thing to note…when refreshing this post for the website, we noticed the candle was no longer listed on their website. Hopefully this is a temporary thing and it will be back. In the meantime, check out our discontinued candles shopping guide.
