There is nothing quite like the scent of real roses. They come in such a wide variety of colors and variations…it’s enough to boggle the mind. The rose scent is one that is particularly hard to capture in candle form. We’ve found a number of rose scented candles that come off smelling fake – too sweet, too perfumey, too stuffy. Yet there are some candles that seem to capture the essence of the smell of real roses. At least they come pretty darn close! Here are our picks of some of the best rose scented candles on the market today.

1

Diptyque

Roses

On the luxurious end, there is Diptyque’s candle, Roses. This is a powdery rose, light and fresh. There is not much greenery in this scent, but there is a little there. The cold throw is on the lighter side, but once lit, the hot throw is fantastic! Diptyque also carries a Geranium Rose scented candle that is warm, spicy, and a bit more earthy, if that’s the vibe you’re feeling.

2

Trudon

Tuileries

Trudon Tuileries Candle
The fragrance was conceived as an homage to the rose, the Queen’s favorite flower throughout her life. Photo credit: Trudon
Trudon carries a few scents with rose notes, but we are partial to the fragrance Tuileries. It is such a beautiful rose scent with lots of green notes to add to the authenticity. There are several other supporting notes in this candle so that the rose scent doesn’t take you over. It is complex and really powerful!

3

Jo Malone

Red Roses

The classic Red Roses candle from Jo Malone is rich and inviting. There are some subtly sweet notes in this scent and beautiful, airy green notes. The citrusy notes are a bonus, making for a complex rose scented candle that is sure to delight your senses. The fragrance is a bit more subtle, but it does permeate well.

4

August & Piers

Darling

August & Piers Darling Candle
Cherish your enchanting ways with this beloved blend of Rose, tender Violet and soothing Cedarwood. A soul-stirring scent for heartwarming moments. Photo credit: August & Piers
The Darling fragrance from August & Piers is a great floral mix fragrance if you can’t take rose straight on. There is a beautiful blend of violets that sweetens the entire candle scent, and the cedarwood notes dampen the floral just a bit (in a good way!). The scent is a bit on the sweeter side overall and fairly strong.

5

Yankee Candle

Fresh Cut Roses

Yankee Candle Fresh Cut Roses Valentine's Day Candle
This is a Floral fragrance. The fresh, dewy, and intoxicating scent of a lush bouquet of roses. Rounded with apple peel in the top notes and soft powder at the base, this scent invites you to treat yourself to a dozen long-stemmed beauties. Photo credit: Yankee Candle
Fresh Cut Roses from Yankee Candle is a favorite candle of ours. As a matter of fact, it’s on our list of some of the best Yankee Candle large jars you can buy. It is such a fresh rose scent, complete with greenery. Some say this is Roses of Cliff Walk reincarnated…we just say that it is one of the best rose scented candles we’ve ever sniffed. The scent is strong but not overpowering.

6

Homecourt

Steeped Rose

Homecourt Steeped Rose Candle
An unadulterated floral that captures the uplifting character of its namesake bloom. Instantly fill your space with dozens of freshly cut roses—stems, thorns, and all. Photo credit: Homecourt
Steeped Rose from Homecourt is that exotic rose candle fragrance we sometimes long for. It is a beautiful rose scent that is a bit more sultry and sexy that some of the others on our list. We love the addition of vanilla and guiacwood for the uniqueness.
7

LAFCO

Absolute Rose de Mai

LAFCO’s Absolute Rose de Mai is captivating and intoxicating. The beauty of the orange citrus notes and sweet honey-like notes make for such a winning combination. This fragrance is strong without being too overpowering.
8

Overose

Nudesse

Overose Nudesse Candle
The fragrance emphasises on the sweetness of the rose petals when the blossoming is at its peak. The scent of a rose garden after the rain, dew dripping from leaf to leaf, intensely floral, slightly sweet and very fresh. Photo credit: Overose
If you are looking for more sweet floral notes, Overose’s Nudesse will definitely fit that bill. There are no green notes here. It does smell like fresh roses but also sweet candy – perfect combination! It has a really good scent throw, too.
9

Maison Francis Kurkdjian

Anouche

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Anouche Candle
Anouche captures the unforgettable memory of rose petal and plum jam, one of my grandmother’s secret recipes. A candle with a smooth and flowery sweetness, lightly honeyed and spicy, held aloft by a burst of quince. Photo credit: Maison Francis Kurkdjian
The Anouche candle from Maison Francis Kurkdjian is a bit on the spicy side, and it is a beautiful take on a rose fragrance. It still has powerful rose notes and the burn lasts seemingly forever.
10

DS & Durga

Salt Marsh Rose

DS & Durga Salt Marsh Rose Candle
A lazy ramble in hidden thickets on Cape islands where marsh rose and swamp mallows suck brackish tides. Ospreys hunt in estuary wetlands. Plovers plove. Photo credit: DS & Durga
This rose fragrance is simply intoxicating – it smells of fresh roses and earth. It is very warm and less sweet than a number of the other candles on this list. Another one with a great scent throw!
11

Voluspa

Rose Otto

Voluspa Rose Otto Candle
Notes of Rosa Damascena Flower Tops & Bulgarian Rose with Pink Peony. Photo credit: Voluspa
Voluspa actually carries a number of different rose scented candles, but Rose Otto is our absolute favorite. It is like being wrapped in a fresh bouquet of roses, complete with some green notes to seal the deal. It is strong but not overpowering.
