Wild Ivy – Colonial Candle

By Christina RylanWild Ivy

Brand: Colonial Candle

Type: 2.4oz simmer snaps

Fragrance: Wild Ivy

Scent Strength: Medium in a large room

First impression of Wild Ivy:

Let’s start off the scent description:

Shimmering red berry blends with fresh-cut rose, silver driftwood, and English ivy for a calming walk through the garden.

I have to be honest… I wasn’t too sure what to think of Wild Ivy when I first smelled the wax. It smelled fresh but a little too perfume’y for me which I’m guessing was the rose and silver driftwood components. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. I’m hoping the perfume notes tone down once melting.

Time to find out!

Melting:

I used the entire clamshell pack dividing the wax equally in two electric melters in my great room. Once melting, it took about ten minutes before I started noticing the scent and the fragrance was just as I expected… a very sweet and perfume’y kind of scent. It’s really hard reviewing these types of scents since I really don’t care for them but moving my opinion out of the equation, here are my thoughts.

  1. Wild Ivy is strong, filling the entire upper level of my home with fragrance.
  2. If you love perfume type scents, this scent has your name written all over it. The aroma had a lot of musk in it with floral notes in the background. I didn’t smell any red berries. To me, this scent was solid musk and flowers.

Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate these simmer snaps a 10 in any size room. It’s strong!! I’m guessing the candle will be strong too but that’s just a guess.

In closing, this is not a scent I would purchase for myself (EVER!) but if you love floral and powdery type scents, Wild Ivy would be a perfect choice for you, especially if you love really strong fragrances. It was a powerhouse and as far as floral/perfume scents go… it was very authentic.

Happy melting!
