What did my candle smell like? 

White Tea & Ginger was an impulse purchase for me. When I first smelled this candle, I wasn’t sure if I would like it. It reminded me of a mix between a strong perfume, flowers and herbs. Very different and STRONG!! I try not to judge a candle on first sniff though so I did purchase one to review for Candlefind.

Here is the scent description for White Tea & Ginger:

Our classic White Tea & Ginger fragrance balances white tea leaves with sparkling citrus and a hint of ginger for a fresh and irresistible fragrance.

That actually sounds really nice. If this candle smells like the description above, I’ll be happy. I do smell perfume in this fragrance though so hoping the herbal notes come to life once this candle is burning.

Time to find out!!

I lit this candle in my master bedroom and within minutes of lighting the wicks, the fragrance was permeating all throughout my bedroom so as predicted, this was a pretty strong fragrance. Once burning for a few hours however, I’m happy to report it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
The overall strength was a nice and happy medium which was perfect. Anything stronger and it would have given me a headache.

The aroma…. it still smelled pretty perfumy to me but it wasn’t too bad. The herbal notes did smooth it out a little bit and the overall scent reminded me of spring flowers and herbs. This however was NOT a husband approved scent. LOL!! Mine actually sought me out to let me know how much he disliked it… immensely. He then made a hilarious and animated face while reciting why he never wants me to burn it in our bedroom… ever… again. I asked him what he thought it  smelled like and he said – I quote, “smelly daisies.” So funny!!!! I kind of agree with him on this one… this fragrance did not smell anything like white tea & ginger. Not to me anyway.

Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 9 in a large room. 10 and above in a medium and smaller. Definitely gave a nice and strong scent throw.

How did my candle burn?

This candle burned great. No wick issues – clean and even burn from beginning to end.

Closing to my review: 

This was an interesting review for me. I basically went into this completely unsure of how I would like this candle and although I wasn’t in love with  it, I didn’t really hate it either… it turned into one of those “in the middle” fragrances. I do however recommend it to those who love perfume type fragrances. That’s ultimately what this fragrance reminded me of. Perfume blended with flowers and herbal notes in the background. It was very different.

My favorite part of burning this candle was my husband’s reaction to it – it’s always a pleasure when he chimes in on what I’m burning and he – did – not – like – this – scent!!

So even though I really didn’t personally go crazy over this fragrance, it still rates high since it met all the criteria we look for when reviewing a candle. Presentation was awesome as usual with this brand, the fragrance didn’t seem to match the description so it did get a ding there, burn performance was perfect and the strength was amazing. 4 stars!
