Introduction to my Warm Vanilla Sugar from White Barn Candles…

If you’ve read any of my past reviews, namely my last White Barn Candle review, then you know I’ve become a huge fan of White Barn Candles.

White Barn Candle Company is a huge name out there and have an excellent reputation for highly fragrant and clean burning candles. This is my second review of this line with plenty more to come. I know these candles are really popular because we’ve received tons of requests for more reviews. Full disclosure… this line can only be found at Bath & Body Works stores. They hold the exclusive so if you’re on a hunt for a specific White Barn scent you can’t find anymore… they are who you need to contact.

This review centers on their Warm Vanilla Sugar fragrance. One of Bath & Body Works signature scents and a staple fragrance I’m sure they’ll always carry. It’s always available in candles as well as bath & body.

What did my Warm Vanilla Sugar candle look like?

Just a FYI… this style apothecary candle we’ve pictured to the left (and the one I’m reviewing) is no longer available anymore. Bath & Body Works has since updated their style candles to a more modern 3 wick design.

The Warm Vanilla Sugar scent however has not changed and that is the fragrance I’m reviewing.

How did my Warm Vanilla Sugar candle from White Barn Smell?

Warm Vanilla Sugar is a dreamy scent and utterly beautiful to me. I’ve tried my fair share of duplicates and nothing compares to the real McCoy in my opinion. The scent description on Bath & Body Works website for this fragrance is:

“Vanilla, coconut and basmati rice are blended with a touch of soft sandalwood in this rich and cozy scent.”

Basmati rice means the “queen of fragrance or the perfumed one.” This type of rice has been grown in the foothills of the Himalayas for thousands of years. It’s perfumy, nut-like flavor and aroma can be attributed to the fact that the grain is aged to decrease its moisture content. Basmati, a long-grained rice with a fine texture is the costliest rice in the world and has been favored by emperors and praised by poets for hundreds of years.

I’ve long wondered what made this fragrance so unique from other vanilla scents and I now know it must be in part to the Basmati rice. The sandalwood is also a nice element. This fragrance has a perfume quality that’s hard to describe but whatever it is, it’s a winner. Warm Vanilla Sugar also makes a great soap, body lotion and perfume and I know is one of Bath & Body Works most popular scents. Just breathing this fragrance throughout my home makes me understand why, it’s absolutely beautiful.

Even if you dislike Vanilla, you should smell this candle next time you’re in a Bath & Body Works store. To make a point, a really good friend of mine despises anything remotely vanilla and I mean anything. I’m not even allowed to burn vanilla scents when she comes over, she’s that stubborn. I had this candle burning all day long (and didn’t tell her what it was) and when she came over, the first words out of her mouth were, “Wow, I can smell your candles outside in the driveway, it’s beautiful… what are you burning?” I almost had a coronary! She didn’t even know what hit her and when she found out what the fragrance was, she couldn’t believe it.

The scent throw I thought was light to medium. I had two candles burning in my great-room and the fragrance is definitely subtle. I think that’s how it was intended to be. To me, Warm Vanilla Sugar is a romantic fragrance, if it were too strong, it wouldn’t have the same effect. I bet with Bath & Body Works new 3 wick candles, the scent throw will be even stronger. I must try one soon.

I personally think these candles would burn better if they were double wicked. With one wick, it’s a struggle for the wax to melt all the way to the edge. I did have to use my wick dipper on occasion to push leftover wax into the wax pool so nothing was wasted. Other than that, my candles burned fine. No soot or smoke.

Closing to my Warm Vanilla Sugar review from White Barn Candles:

I loved Warm Vanilla Sugar and will definitely buy this fragrance again. It’s timeless, sophisticated, romantic and elegant. It’s a great scent to smell throughout your home as well to wear as bath & body. I can’t believe I hadn’t burned this scent before considering it’s such a popular scent.

If you plan on trying candles… wait till Bath & Body Works runs a sale on their candles. they do it often and it’s worth waiting. Especially if you’re on a budget.
