Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Bath & Body Works
Type: 14.5oz large 3 wick candle
Fragrance: Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow
Scent Strength: Medium
First Impression of Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow:
Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow from Bath & Body Works smelled pretty subtle when I first popped off the lid. My nose detected pumpkin for sure and vanilla with a hint of cinnamon.
Here is the scent description from the bottom of the candle:
Creamy vanilla, pumpkin spice, homemade marshmallow, drizzled caramel.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but Bath & Body Works has definitely simplified their scent descriptions. They used to be longer with some flair. No more, which is weird. The description is pretty accurate since I smelled every element listed aside from the caramel. That I couldn’t smell but hoping that note comes to life once the candle is burning.
Time to find out!
I lit this candle in my master bedroom to start out where it stayed from beginning to end. Once the wicks were lit, it took roughly 15 minutes to really start noticing the scent and once I did…. very nice. The aroma… a marshmallow vanilla that sort of reminded of me a vanilla and graham cracker blend. I didn’t really smell pumpkin the entire time this candle was burning. Or caramel. To me, this scent was all vanilla, marshmallow and graham cracker. Go figure.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 7 in a large room. 10 above in a medium or smaller rooms. It wasn’t super strong but gave a nice subtle medium throw in the large room I had it burning in.
How did my candle burn?
I have a love/hate relationship with Bath & Body Work candles. Some burn great, other don’t. This candle had that classic wick issue that starts halfway down the candle. As soon as it hit the halfway point, the wicks started fizzling out to little nubs then went completely out. From then on out, it was a struggle keeping them lit. Total bummer!
Closing to my review:
I liked this fragrance but not sure enough to purchase it again. The scent was decent but I wasn’t really “wowed” by it if that makes sense? The burn performance with this candle however left me irritated and cranky. I’m getting mighty tired of the crap shoot with this brand. It seems 4 out of 10 candles malfunction and for the price tag, that’s troubling, even on sale.
Who knows, I may try it again down the road. If I do, will modify this review.
Until then… happy candle hunting!
