Introduction to my review:
With Halloween right around the corner, I had to purchase at least one Halloween themed candle to review. I love everything about Halloween and normally try and review a few scents for this fun and spooky holiday but sadly… this will probably be the only one this year. Reason… I didn’t purchase enough candles in time.
I did manage however to pick up Trick or Treat from Bath & Body Works. It looked too cute to pass up and luckily, I caught a 2 for $22 sale… can’t beat that!
What did my Trick or Treat Candle look like?
This candle was their round 14.5oz 3 wick jar. The wax color a dark smoky gray. The label shows 3 pumpkins with the scent name “Trick or Treat” in a white font in the center with a little scrolly swirl below it. The lid was my favorite… it was a mix of pewter and bronze with fall leaves and twigs embossed in the lid. Very cool!!
What did my Trick or Treat Candle smell like?
First sniff… very nice. It smelled like sweet marshmallows with hints of campfire smoke. It reminded me a lot of Yankee Candles “Campfire Treat” I reviewed awhile back – review here. Bath & Body Works version was definitely stronger and a lot sweeter. Here is the scent description from the bottom of the label:
“Wickedly good, A scary good blend of freshly toasted marshmallow, smoldering woods and vanilla bean.”
YUM!! That is exactly what this fragrance smelled like. Marshmallows, campfire and creamy vanilla. I likey!!
I lit this candle in a big bedroom and waited for the magic to begin…it didn‘t take long. Once lit… the aroma drifted to every nook and cranny of my room. I loved the strength of this candle. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate this a 9, easily. The fragrance traveled all throughout my bedroom within minutes of lighting… after 15 minutes or so, my entire upper level smelled like Marshmallows and wood smoke. The fragrance overpowered everything else I had going in my house. So strong!
The scent… very nice. The dominant scent was definitely wood smoke for sure with subtle hints of marshmallows and creamy vanilla… I really liked it and so did my husband… this is the guy who comments on nothing unless he hates or loves it… in this case, he really liked it. When I told him what it was, he said from far away, it smelled smoky… up close, it smelled really sweet. I have to agree. It did. This scent truly captured roasting marshmallows around a campfire. This is the scent I imagine and I can almost taste those gooey and warm marshmallows… great job Bath & Body Works!! I loved it!
How did my candle burn?
My candle burned perfect. No wick issues… no wasted wax or soot. Had to trim my wicks each day which is normal and good… that means no drowning wick issues BBW candles used to have.
Closing to my review:
This was a really great fragrance and I have no regrets purchasing it. It smelled exactly as the description states… sweet and strong wood smoke with hints of roasting marshmallows and vanilla. YUM!!!! As a matter of fact, if you love Yankee‘s “Campfire Treat” candle and want a stronger version of it, this is your candle. All the way. Obviously Bath & Body Works candles burn faster than Yankee candles do but as far as strength goes… there is no comparison. So that’s the tradeoff.
Trick or Treat gets two thumbs up. I’ll for sure purchase this candle again and not just one… maybe two or three.
