Scent Strength: Medium
First impression of Thailand, Coconut Basmati:
Thailand, a country I dream of visiting someday. Beautiful country, wonderful people, LOVE the food!! So, as soon as I saw this candle on Bath & Body Works website, I couldn’t wait to try it. The scent is called Thailand but the actual aroma is Coconut Basmati. When I think of Thailand, I imagine coconut and curry and all the yummy spices that go along with it. Mmmmmm!!!! What would this candle smell like?
Here is the scent description I pulled from the bottom of the candle:
Creamy Coconut, Golden Temple Saffron, Basmati Rice.
Okay, I don’t know what “golden temple saffron” smells like but it must be kind of perfume’y. When I sniffed the wax, I smelled a sweet and creamy coconut with a hint of perfume. The basmati rice? I eat Thai food all the time and know the smells of their food pretty well. Basmati rice doesn’t really have a fragrance to it. The rice itself tastes mild with a touch of sweetness. So maybe my mind is in the wrong direction with this one. It’s not food I should be thinking about… maybe just the exotic spices of Thailand?
Time to light my candle!
I lit this candle in my master bedroom (my favorite room to burn BBW candles in) and waited for the Thailand magic to begin. Twenty minutes in and my bedroom smelled pretty interesting. The fragrance smelled exactly as it did cold and I liked it – it just wasn’t what I imagined. I smelled coconut but it wasn’t the pronounced element to this aroma. I’m thinking this fragrance was predominantly basmati rice and golden saffron with hints of coconut. And just to be clear, it still smelled kind of perfume’y to me.
Strength – I would rate this candle between a 6/7 out of 10 in a really large room. 8 in a medium room and 10 in a small. It wasn’t a super strong fragrance but gave a nice medium throw.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned great. No wick issues, YAY!! Clean burning from beginning to end.
Closing to my review:
Thailand, Basmati Rice from Bath & Body Works was very different and a candle I recommend you sniffing prior to purchasing it. I’m glad I tried it but not sure I loved it enough to purchase again. It was just one of those fragrances that baffled me. I liked it but I didn’t love it. That happens. ?
Don’t see this scent on Bath & Body Works website? Try one of their stores which tends to carry all their current scents vs online.
Happy candle hunting!
