Sweet Summer Days Bath & Body Works Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Bath & Body Works
Type: 14.5oz large 3 wick candle
Fragrance: Sweet Summer Days – Watermelon Ice
Scent Strength: Light
First impression of Sweet Summer Days – Watermelon Ice:
Let’s start off with the scent description for Sweet Summer Days:
Pink watermelon, crushed ice, watery cucumber, sugar crystals.
It’s summer and nothing brings in summer for me like sweet slices of watermelon. To eat and to smell throughout my home. I love this scent pretty much any time of the year but when it’s hot outside… it’s a perfect fragrance! Sweet Summer Days was a darling candle aesthetically. The label wrapped around the candle showed a sandy beach with a bright blue sky along with colorful bungalows lining the sandy beach. See picture above.
First impression… the wax smelled super light, so light, had I smelled this candle in a Bath & Body Works store, I may not have purchased it. Cucumber actually stood out the most to me which kind of bummed me out… I was hoping for more melon. We shall see though… the true test is once the candle is burning – that’s when all the hidden flavors come to life.
Let’s get going!
I lit this candle in my master bedroom hoping the scent would manifest into what I was hoping for… a sweet watermelon ice with lots of sugar. It was a stretch but one can hope. Once the wicks were lit, it took the average 20 minutes to reach a full melt pool and the aroma… I’m sad to report my manifestation spell did not work. ☹ All I could smell was a watered-down cucumber water with teeny hints of watermelon. It wasn’t very sweet or sassy at all. In fact, it was super light and kind of boring. Big time bummer.
Strength – this wasn’t a strong fragrance. I would rate this candle a 5 out of 10 in a really larger room. 7 in a medium.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned great. No wick issues. Clean burning from start to finish.
Closing to my review:
Sweet Summer Days was a huge disappointment for me and not a candle I’ll be purchasing again. Do I recommend it? No. But don’t let that stop you from smelling it should you happen to be in a Bath & Body Works store. Look for it and see for yourself.
Happy candle hunting!

It was a bit misleading to list the “theme” instead of the scent name in the title and on through the review. No way would I bother with a watermelon candle, yet I thought, by your wording, Sweet Summer Days was the scent. Now that would smell divine I’d imagine. I’ll make sure to pay attention to the small print. Peace.
Hello acHg,
Not sure what you mean by misleading? The name of the candle is Sweet Summer Days. The scent, Watermelon Ice. If you look at the label on the candle, it clearly shows this. Not sure why Bath & Body Works does this but they’re doing it with more and more candles.
