Sweet Irish Coffee Yankee Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Yankee Candle
Type: Large 22oz candle
Fragrance: Sweet Irish Coffee
Scent Strength: Light
First impression of Sweet Irish Coffee:
I’m several months late getting this candle reviewed but that’s what happens when you have a thousand candles to burn. For a plight, I think that’s a pretty good one so I won’t complain too much. ?
Let’s get right to the scent description for Sweet Irish Coffee:
Top Note: Cinnamon, Brown Sugar. Top is the initial impression of the fragrance.
Mid Note: Coffee, Whipped Cream. Middle is the main body of the scent.
Base Note: Vanilla, Malt. Base is its final impression
First impression smelling the wax… my nose detected vanilla, malt with teeny hints of coffee. Just based off cold sniff, this scent seemed a little bland and dull but who knows… maybe all that yumminess listed in the description will come to life once the candle is burning.
Let’s find out!
I lit this candle in small little powder room to start out and that’s where this candle stayed till the very end. Once the wick was lit, it took a good 6 hours to reach a full melt pool. Crazy right? Not really… this brand tends to burn really slow so that time frame is pretty normal. Once the aroma started moving through the room… a very mild coffee aroma drifted through the room. It wasn’t very strong and it wasn’t very striking either. Just a plain, creamy coffee scent. Not sure where the “Irish” part in the scent comes in? When I think of Irish, I think of Bailey’s Irish Cream. That’s kind of what I expected… a vanilla coffee type scent with hints of Bailey’s. I would have loved that. Overall, I’m pretty disappointed in this fragrance and it’s one I won’t purchase again.
Strength – I would rate this candle a 6 in a really small room. It wasn’t strong at all but did give a subtle throw in a small room.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned fine. No wick issue. Clean burning from start to finish. The candle just burned very-very slow.
Closing to my review:
Sweet Irish Coffee from Yankee wasn’t a coffee scent I really enjoyed that much. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. I was expecting a sweet and creamy coffee scent and ended up with a dull kind of vanilla aroma that just didn’t smell very authentic. So, suffice it to say, this is not a fragrance I would recommend. But, should you run across this scent when you’re out and about shopping, see for yourself. You may like it.
Happy candle hunting!
