Sun-Washed Citrus White Barn Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: White Barn
Type: 14.5oz large 3 wick candle
Fragrance: Sun-Washed Citrus
Scent Strength: Medium
First impression of Sun-Washed Citrus:
The moment I popped off the lid to this candle, I smelled a creamy and sweet orange… like vanilla, sugar and oranges all blended to perfection. I love orange fragrances and this candle smelled pretty perfect on cold sniff – a great start to this review.
Here is the scent description from the bottom of the candle:
Sugared lemons, mandarin, juicy pineapple, agave nectar. With essential oils.
I never would have guessed lemon and pineapple were in this fragrance. I couldn’t smell any lemon or pineapple in the aroma no matter how hard I tried, and trust me – I tried. To me, this scent was solid mandarin and agave nectar, aka – sugar. It wasn’t bad, it smelled great… it just didn’t smell like the description implied.
Okay, time to light my candle.
I lit this candle in my master bedroom and waited for the magic to begin. Once the wicks were lit, it took a good 15 minutes to reach a full melt pool and the aroma…. sweet oranges and sugar all the way. In fact, this fragrance kind of reminded me of Pomelo Citron, another candle from Bath & Body Works I just reviewed last week. Same vibe and notes of orange and sugar. The only difference, Pomelo Citron had more creamy vanilla notes in it and I think that’s why I liked it more. The pineapple and lemon noted in the description never did materialize for me. Bummer because adding those two would have made an interesting scent. ☹
All in all, this scent was just “okay” for me. Nothing out of the ordinary or drool inducing.
Strength – I would rate this candle a 7 in a really large room. 8 in a medium to smaller rooms. Not super strong but gave a nice medium scent throw.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned great. No wick issues. Clean burning from beginning to end.
Closing to my review:
Sun-washed Citrus smelled good and I did enjoy it, but it wasn’t a scent that really “wowed” me enough to purchase again. If I had to choose between this scent and Pomelo Citron, (a similar fragrance from Bath & Body Works,) I would go with Pomelo Citron, hands down. Next time you’re in a Bath & Body Works store, smell both and see what you think.
Happy candle hunting!
