Short but sweet introduction
to my Soyphisticated Candles Review:

Well, Spring is finally “springing,” but I’m a little behind on my reviews. Luckily, I feel like any of the scents in this review are all year worthy. Even though I’m sick of snow, and I know many of us are sooo ready for Spring, this review was written during a snowstorm, and I didn’t have the heart to try to turn it into a spring review.

What do my “Soyphisticated” Candles Look Like?

Camille, owner of Soyphisticated Candles, sent me three, 16 oz, round, glass jar candles with round, flat, glass lids. Very simple and classy, and of course, can compliment nearly every decor. All of my candles were a natural white, except for Jasmine Waterlily, which Camille dyed a lovely blue. All of Camille’s candles are natural white, but her site states that color is available upon request.

While I usually prefer as natural as possible, if you try Jasmine Waterlily, I really did like that particular shade of blue. It is just the right shade and scent for a powder room, or any blue room for that matter. Well, I suppose you could have Camille dye it any color you want, but I digress:0)…

How did my candles from Soyphisticated Candles smell?

Sparkling Snow

Saturday March 8… The day of the big snow in Ohio. My mom phoned from Cincinnati to say that it had snowed 16″. Depending on the part of the country you are from, that may not be a lot of snow for you. But in Ohio, while we expect snow in the winter, 16″ is A LOT. And with a lot of snow comes those infamous Level 3 Snow Emergencies. For those of you in warmer climates, a Level 3 is when you aren’t supposed to be driving on the roads unless it is an absolute emergency… such as picking up pizza or renting a Buttermint Candymovie;0). I love Level 3s. Sometimes my husband can take off work and we stay home as a family. We don’t change out of our pajamas, watch TV and play with the baby, and chow down on warm food all day. And of course, Level 3s also mean an entire day of candles burning non-stop in every room of our home! Woohoo! Is there any better way to spend a day?

How fortunate that I had the candle Sparkling Snow to burn on a day like this! It must be destiny. The huge pine trees on the field across the street are covered with a thick frosting of snow. Everything is white except for the dark, sharp contrast of the trees. The sky is a whitish gray, but it’s still bright, and a delicate powder continues to fall from the heavens. To add to this candle’s charm, there is a light dusting of sparkling glitter on the top; so pretty. Oh, and by the way, this has to be what heaven smells like.

I cannot imagine a more perfect day to bask in a combination of mint and buttercream. As I told Camille, this fragrance is “nummy, nummy, nummy!” I tend to revert to childlike babble when words will just not express how delicious and wonderful a scent is. Every time I lit Sparkling Snow, I inhaled the warm, sweet fragrance of butter with just the right mix of mint. Life isn’t fair, though, and Camille warned me that it is a lighter fragrance, but with good throw. I tried Sparkling Snow in my living room first, but it wasn’t meant to be. The space of my living room and dining room combined lost the fragrance. I moved it to my bedroom, and walah! The smaller space was much better fit to catch the magic of this aroma. I was looking for excuses to go to my bedroom.

If you order this fragrance from Camille, which I passionately urge you to do, and you want to burn it in open spaces, I’d advise purchasing 2 or 3 just to make sure you can experience this fragrance in any space you want. Camille also mentioned that Sparkling Snow is more intense in melt form because she doesn’t have to consider the burn and can focus more on the “fragrance diffusion experience.”

Jasmine Waterlily

Jasmine-waterlilyJasmine Waterlily is described on the Soyphisticated website as:

“Crisp and refreshing water lily, jasmine, tangerine and orange.” Oranges

Jasmine Waterlily is a perfect Spa like fragrance. As you all know, I’m not a floral lover, but this is a perfect combination of fruit and floral. Jasmine Waterlily is also a great bathroom fragrance if you want a fresh, clean scent. The various notes of this scent blended very well, and being the fruit lover that I am, I really wanted to be able to pick out the tangerine/orange… and I could! This was a wonderfully unique aroma that I would highly recommend to get that musty, dusty, stale winter air out of your home.

Ginger Essence

Lemons“Ginger, lemon, currant and nutmeg, jasmine, white musk and amber. Fresh GingerGinger with a twist!”

Oy! Ginger Essence is a wonderfully uplifting fragrance! Being the lemon lover she is, Christina would definitely approve ;-). I think I can smell the ginger, lemon, and currant, but I don’t have a nose that can pick out the other four fragrances. Anyway, this really is Ginger that has kicked it up a notch. It’s another refreshing fragrance that seems to clear the air and give your spirits a lift. I smiled every time I walked into my kitchen.

Orange Air

Soyphisicated clamshell meltsThere seems to be a theme here, and I’m not sure I even did it on purpose! I must have naturally needed those aromas that clear the air and tend to put us in better moods.

My darling Japanese Chin puppy. I love her to death, but she has a stubborn streak and it took the longest time to potty train her. Consequently, the carpet in ourOrange Air Melt Review dining room has been “broke in” so to speak. We have tried to clean the carpet ourselves, but I think it still smells sort of, um, unpleasant on more humid days. When I read the description for Orange Air, a “blend of tea tree, may chang and sweet orange oils to clean the air,” I figured I’d give it a try. I also liked the fact that it is an essential oil fragrance.

Orange Air didn’t disappoint. Whenever the dining room smelled the least bit unpleasant to my overly sensitive nose, ON my tart warmer went. Orange Air seemed to filter the air in the room with its clean and refreshing aromatic abilities.

To me, it sort of smelled like a mix of orange and lemons. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like the smell of a true orange or lemon scent, so it is definitely a quick fix fragrance when you have company coming over and you don’t have time to powder and vacuum a stinky carpet.

candle flameHow did My “Soyphisticated” Candles burn?

I was bad and didn’t always have the time to let the jar candles burn all the way to the edges. If I had, I think the sides of the jars would have been much cleaner. But there was only a slight film of wax. Jasmine Waterlily was able to burn all the way to the edge and the jar looked very sleek with no film or wasted wax on the sides. None of my candles deposited black soot on the jars.

Overall opinion of my Candles and “Soyphisticated” Candle Company:

On a personal note, I very much appreciate that Camille is concerned with reusing jars and is conscious of how her packaging materials affect the environment. To learn a little more about Camille, and the rates of decomposition on what we throw away, Soyphisticated Candle Logoyou can visit her blog.

Soyphisticated Candles is what I would call an “old faithful” company. It’s a well-rounded company that’s simplicity quality, along with its vast array of exceptional fragrances, essential oil fragrances, and types of candles available to purchase (tealights, votives, tapers, pillars, tins, melts, etc.) making this a company you can return to again and again. Soyphisticated also offers Vegetable Body Soap, Body Lotion, Dream Cream, Shea Butter, and Lip Balm. For those of you who like learning and read just about anything, the website has lots of interesting information on soy wax, fragrance oils, soap, and more. Go check out all their fragrances, folks. You’ll simply be sold on Soyphisticated Candles :0)

Happy candle burning!
