Snowday – Colonial Candle Review

Snowday Colonial Candle ReviewSnowday

By Christina Rylan

Brand: Colonial Candle

Type: 14.5oz 3 wick candle

Fragrance: Snowday

Scent Strength: Medium

First impression of Snowday:

Snowday is a new holiday scent from Colonial Candle I was looking forward to reviewing. These new candles look so much like Bath & Body Works large 3 wick candles, I couldn’t resist! And the wax! I love this new creamy wax Colonial switched to for these new style jars they’ve released. The wax is creamy and smooth and so different from their hard mottled wax they use in their heavy oval jars.

Snowday is described as:

Snow Day scented candles is a sparkle of snow flurries glistens throughout the evening breeze. Winter amber and sun washed silk are wrapped with spun sugar. Mystical undertones of musk and pure coconut are nestled together with vanilla noir.

Valencia Orange, Blue Cyclamen, Midnight Breeze
Washed Silk, White Amber, Spun Sugar
Vanilla Noir, Raw Coconut, Misted Musk

WOW!! That’s a lot of different notes going on in this fragrance. Smelling the wax, it smelled perfume’y right off the bat, which is not what I was expecting. Looking at the description, I would say I noticed musk, vanilla noir and Valencia orange the most. Everything else in the description? Hard to say. Hoping coconut and spun sugar come roaring through once the candle is burning. We shall see!

HairsprayI lit my Snowday candle in my master bedroom to start out and that’s where it stayed for one full day, that was all I could take. Once the wicks were lit, it took a good hour to reach a full melt pool and the aroma… sadly, I didn’t care for it at all. Just an FYI… I try my best to stay objective with all the candles I review but sometimes I run across a fragrance I just simply can’t handle. This was one of those occasions. Snowday had a synthetic quality to it that sadly gave me a raging headache. It took me awhile to figure it out but I finally realized what it smelled like. Hairspray. Reading the description, I could make out a few of the individual notes like the Valencia orange and musk but other than that, it simply smelled fake and synthetic, like an aerosol hairspray sprayed all over my bedroom. Once a headache kicked in, I had to put it out. So sorry Colonial but Snowday was simply not my cup of tea. ☹

Strength – I would rate my Snowday candle a 7 out of 10 in a really large room. 10 in medium to smaller rooms.

How did my Snowday candle burn?

This candle burned great. No wick issues. Clean burning from beginning to end.

Closing to my review:

Sadly, Snowday from Colonial Candle will not be a repurchase for me. Do I recommend this scent? Based off my experience – no, but I’m still glad I tried it. You don’t know until you do and quite frankly, that’s the gamble you take when shopping online. On a happy note, this candle was really pretty to watch burn. The vessel was a metallic silver, the wax, a gorgeous frosty blue. With the wicks lit, it glowed beautifully, day and night.

I do enjoy Colonial Candles and have one more holiday scent to burn and review – Emerald Fir. Hoping that one is a lot more authentic. We shall see!!

Until then, happy candle hunting!

Please note – this candle still rates decent because it met all our review criteria. Presentation was good, burn performance was good and the strength was decent. I just personally didn’t care for the scent. It happens.
