Review of Two Scented Jar Candles from Shorties Candles: Cool Citrus Basil and Cucumbers & Cantaloupe

Shorties Candles have been a favorite of mine for some time now.  They have so many fragrances to choose from and best of all, they rate their scents from lightly fragranced to strong.  Aside from their nice selection, that was the cincher for me, I prefer my candles strong so that made the decision factor much easier.  I knew what to stay clear of and I got what I wanted, no disappointments or surprises.

Please keep in mind that my selection was the fruity/summer scents I typically drool over.  I have bought a few fall/winter scents in the past but I haven’t even ventured into the bakery or floral realm yet so I can’t give you an honest opinion on those. My guess is they’ve got to be good because just about everything I’ve ever ordered from this company, I’ve enjoyed and will reorder.

Shorties website is really easy to navigate through with all their fragrances separated into categories so it’s really nice to shop on this website. The hardest part is deciding what to order as they have so many awesome choices.  They always have sales going on and once you order with them, an account is set up with 10% of your total sale stored as credit for future purchases. You can cash it in on your next purchases or let it accumulate as long as you want toward free candles.  How cool is that and a feature I’ve taken advantage of twice!!

How Did My Cool Citrus Basil and Cucumbers & Cantaloupe Candles Smell?

Cool Citrus Basil

This fragrance was one of my favorite body lotions ever and I was so upset when I learned Bath & Body Works discontinued it about two years ago.  Story of my life, I find a fragrance I love and POOF, they get rid of it.  When I saw that Shorties had this fragrance in a candle, I had to try it. I can honestly say that this candle is practically identical to the BBW scent.  When I smelled it for the first time, I was so happy,I could have danced an Irish jig!! My favorite scent is not lost forever!  My coveted body lotion may be gone but at least I can still smell it to my hearts content throughout my house.

Cool Citrus Basil is a candle I will burn any time of the year.  It’s warm and cool at the same time and an all around fresh scent that I just love.  This candle gives a great scent throw and definitely gets a rip roaring two thumbs up from me.

This is another Shorties favorite of mine.  I’ve already bought it a few times, I like it that much.  I can’t say that I smell Cucumber when I burn it but I do smell cantaloupe and it’s really sweet which I’m a softy for.  I think it’s such an awesome candle to burn during the summer because it’s so sweet and fresh.  The scent throw is nice making my whole house smell like a bowl of sweet & juicy cantaloupe.  This is another one you just want to bite into like a piece of fruit because it smells so good.  I totally recommend this candle for those of you who love the fresh & sweet smell of cantaloupe.

My candles are single wicked and burn evenly and clean to the end.

Overall Opinion of Scented Candles from Shorties Candles:

I love this company.  They have so many great fragrances to choose from and reasonable prices. Customer service is also great, every order I’ve placed shipped the same day so I’ve never had to wait more than a week to receive it. I haven’t been disappointed with any fragrances I’ve purchased with the exception of three, Cranberry, Cranberry Ice & Orange Cranberry which all smelled a little fake to me. Coincidental that all 3 are cranberry? I would think not but who knows, what I dislike may be great to others. We all have different tastes and perceptions of what smells authentic or not.

I could go on and on about their summer scents but for a change of pace, some great fall/winter ones I’ve tried and like are Peppermint (to die for), Chocolate Mint (Oh my gosh!!), Mulberry (awesome, great for summer too), Yuletide & Woodberry (very different). Another useful tid bite, they offer free shipping if you spend $50.00 or more. I don’t know about you but that was oh so easy for this candle-holic to do.
