Introduction to Shining Sol:
Sometimes I run across a company that has the best story behind the name and Shining Sol definitely has a really interesting story. I love it!! You see… this company was founded by a musician… a guitar playing rocker that works hand in hand with Bret Michaels, even today. Remember Bret Michaels 80’s fans? Poison ring a bell? One of my favorite rock bands EVER!! The owner of Shining Sol is Pete Evik and here is a bit of info on Pete:
Pete currently and for the last decade is a guitarist/music director/co-writer for rock music and reality tv icon Bret Michaels. Pete’s work has been heard on the hit reality show “Rock of Love” as well as “Life as I know it,” “Penguins of Madagascar” and “Supercross season 2012,” plus many more.
During a break from touring, Pete had a stone fireplace built in his home designed only to burn candles. He bought Yankee candles of what was 
supposed to be a fireplace fragrance and was let down at how little scent it produced. He suffers from insomnia so late at night, he started wondering if he could learn to make a better candle. Why not right? Once that idea formed, he became consumed and by the time he perfected his candle, he decided to apply it into a business. And Shining Sol was created. Being very “eco” conscious, he went the route of soy and to add to the whole fireplace theme, he went with wood wicks. Pretty clever too since he ultimately created his own candles to burn in his “candle” fireplace.
With learning his story, you can imagine how excited I was to review these candles. You think of a guitar wielding rocker and you imagine a tough guy (and he is!)…. who you find out makes scented candles?….. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! This story also reaffirms that candles are liked by everyone, not just the gals but fella’s too.
Pete sent me a nice arrangement of fragrances and all the names were so creative and fun… I could tell how much he enjoys this hobby of his and it brought an enormous smile to my face.
