Intro To My Sandalwood Candle Review
This time of year can be very hectic – searching for last minute gifts, hosting dinners, attending office parties. It’s exhausting! That’s why we will always advocate for relaxing with a good candle – and a sandalwood candle is a pretty safe bet. The warm, woodsy notes of the sandalwood are often calming and soothing. One of my favorite new places, Aubert & Amandine, have a sandalwood-jasmine scented candle named KIEKAN. Knowing the great success I had with Comfort and Joy, I was pretty excited to try this particular scent to see if it was what the doctor ordered for the current holiday bustle.
First Impressions of My Sandalwood Candle
I’ve been impressed with the presentation of Aubert & Amandine candles and this one was no exception. The cute blue gift box it was housed in was perfect for quick gift-giving…no wrapping needed! Inside the most beautiful candle was nestled inside. It was in a gorgeous blue ceramic vessel and it was very heavy in the hand. Great quality without a doubt! The candle had a single wick and the wax was an off-white color. I couldn’t get over how beautiful this candle was. Simply stunning!
I took a cold sniff and was instantly met by that warm, woodsy smell that is typical for sandalwood. I could smell just a little bit of sweetness to the scent. It was a very soothing mix and I felt instantly relaxed. Looking for the scent description:

I would say that scent description was very accurate! I decided to light this candle in a smaller space given its smaller size. Once lit, I really started noticing those warm, woodsy aromas that were so comforting to me. I could still get those hints of sweetness – not a lot, but just enough to keep this from being a straight up sandalwood scent. I’m going to assume that was the vanilla. I really don’t know that I smelled much of the floral in this one. I wasn’t getting any whiffs of a white floral, even after burning this candle for a while. Still, this was a warm, relaxing scent that really got me into my ‘serenity now’ mode.
The scent was soft but prominent. It permeated the room it was in without difficulty and put me just in the mood that I was looking for. I couldn’t smell it outside of the space I had it burning in, but that was also ok. I was looking for relaxation mode and I didn’t want something running me out of the room I was in.
How Did My Sandalwood Candle Burn?
This candle had one wick and it took it a while to get a full melt pool. I left it bur for several hours on the first burn so that I could get that full pool. The candle burned down well without any wasted wax on the walls of the jar. The flame was manageable throughout the burn and I never noticed any black sooting. I got several hours of burn out of this candle, as it was fairly slow burning. The website states 20-25 hour burn, but I got well over that for my candle. I would estimate a full 30+ hours. Once it was done burning, I melted the rest of the wax on a warmer and cleaned out the jar for reuse. Now I get to look at that pretty jar on my shelf every time I walk by and my serenity mode kicks right back in!
Closing To My Sandalwood Candle Review
I loved this sandalwood candle and it gave me the sense of peace and relaxation that I was looking for. I have yet to be disappointed with a candle from Aubert & Amandine – they produce high quality products that are worth every penny and more! Actually, I think for the quality that you’re getting, the current price of this candle is a steal. This is a candle I would easily gift as I think the scent would be pleasing to most – and it’s in such a beautiful container. If you’re looking for a little R&R or rushing out for a last minute Christmas gift, I think this is certainly one to consider.
