Salted Caramel Popcorn Drizzle Melts Review
by Christina Rylan
Brand: Swan Creek Candle Co
Scent: Salted Caramel Popcorn
Type: 4.75oz Clamshell Melts
Strength: Light
First Impression of Salted Caramel Popcorn:
SWOON!!! That was my first reaction to smelling Salted Caramel Popcorn. I am not kidding! I closed my eyes, groaned in pleasure and just about died at how delicious the wax smelled. It smelled edible, like buttered popcorn and creamy vanilla loaded with sweet caramel drizzle. Yes, I could even smell the salt and it was super buttery too. I’m in love and I haven’t even started melting yet.
Here is the scent description I pulled from Swan Creek’s website:
Fresh from the county fair, salty and sweet, caramelly goodness!
Simply description but accurate. Seriously folks… bakery lovers… this is a must have!
Melting:
Swan Creek’s drizzle melts are pretty big so one cube works great per melt session. In my case, I used two cubes in two separate electric melters in my great room.
Okay, I’m going to say it… I’m sad. This scent smells amazing when you’re right around where it’s melting but the fragrance never really moved through my living room. I tried it 3 different times using the entire clamshell pack to make sure and (insert sad face) – the scent was very subtle all three times. With my nose close to the melter, I could smell a buttery, salty, caramel popcorn and it was TOO DIE FOR. I just wish it was strong enough to fragrance the rest of my home.
One not to give up, I decided to try the candle. It was their 12oz Kitchen Pantry style and I of course stuck to a small bathroom to burn it in. The scent was much better – a delicious salty, caramel, buttery popcorn. Super buttery, super salty with lots of sweet caramel… YUM!!!! It was a small room so the fragrance was much more concentrated and I’m okay with that. Swan Creek candles tend to be subtle so smaller rooms work best and I don’t mind as long as I know that going in. Their drizzle melts however are usually much strong so that’s why I was so surprised with this one. I expected a much stronger scent throw. 🙁 Guess you can’t win them all.
In closing, do I recommend Salted Caramel Popcorn? Yes and no. Yes because it smelled good enough to eat. No because it was so light… if you’re a wax fanatic like me, you like your fragrances strong or at least semi-decent. This one was just a little too lightly scented to really enjoy. I’m bummed but I may try it again to see if I get a different result. One never knows.
If you decide to take the plunge, let us know how it worked out for you. I’m curious to get more feedback on it.
Happy melting!
