Introduction to my Yankee Salted Caramel review:
I’m one of the unlucky ones who doesn’t have a Yankee Candle store close by… not even remotely close so I’m forced to shop online… blind. Not the most convenient way to buy scented candles but still fun since it forces me to try scents I normally might never try.
Salted Caramel was one of those impulse buys and boy am I glad I purchased this one. As soon as I popped off the lid to smell it, I was moaning in pure heaven.
The color of the candle totally matched the fragrance. The wax color was a rich caramel brown… the label on the candle showed an illustration of a big wedge of caramel sandwiched between a buttery cookie and a strip of chocolate with sea salt sprinkled on top. All the salted caramels I’ve ever eaten were straight up caramel with salt… no cookie or chocolate so I was intrigued. Would I smell those delicious cookie and chocolate notes?
Time to find out!
Let’s start with the scent description from Yankee’s website:
Sweet surrender is yours with our luscious gourmand confection of burnt sugar, sea salt, and smooth vanilla caramel. Like the sweet treat itself, this is a pleasure best savored slowly. Lighting the candle signals you are going to take the time to enjoy its deliciousness. This fragrance perfectly captures the scent of sweet salted caramel – golden and buttery. You can even smell the salt.
What a perfect description!! After reading that and then smelling the wax, my mouth was watering and let me tell you… Yankee has set the bar with this one. It smelled so realistic, it blew me away. When I smelled the wax, I wanted to eat it!! The scent descriptions says it’s best savored slowly and my answer….. absolutely!! This is a scent you’ll want to close your eyes and savor while contemplating eating it. Perfect scent description!! I could smell it all… the burnt sugar, the sweet and creamy caramel with teeny notes of salt. PERFECT!!!
Now let’s see if it smells just as good burning.
Yankee Candles are generally lightly scented for me… I know this going in so I lit this candle in a small bathroom with every intention of leaving it there.
First impression… after a good hour of burning, I came back to a room filled with the sweet and smooth aroma of yummy salted caramel. Mouthwatering!! The fragrance smelled exactly as it did cold… sweet salted caramel… so sweet, your sweet tooth will ache. The strength… pretty light… on a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate this candle in-between a 5 & 6 and that’s in a small bathroom. It gave a decent but light scent throw.
Overall, I was very happy with this candle and although I would have preferred the scent to have been stronger, I still loved it. The scent itself… PERFECT!! The most perfect salted caramel I’ve ever smelled. You will seriously want to eat this candle!
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned pretty good. My candle burned super slow so it lasted a long time. Full melt pools took a few hours to achieve with each lighting but once they did, it burned perfect. No wick issues, clean burn with no wasted wax. A+.
Closing to my review:
I absolutely loved Salted Caramel and it’s one I’ll buy again and again. Yes, it was lightly scented but I kind of knew that going in. I’ll just stick to small bathrooms when I do burn this fragrance.
Seriously caramel lovers… this scent is the bomb!! It smelled so realistic, you’ll be craving salted caramels the entire time you’re burning this candle. For me… Loved!! – – Must. Buy. More!!
Happy candle hunting!

Presentation: 5/5
Authenticity: 5/5
Burn Performance: 5/5
Strength: 2/5
Overall Rating: 4/5
Even though this candle was lightly scented, I’m still rating it high because it met all the criteria we look for in a candle. Presentation was great, the scent was beyond authentic and burn performance was good. This candle was dinged on scent strength alone.
Hello
Nice review, how small would you say your bathroom is?
Thanks
Hi Esther,
A powder room so pretty small. I don’t even attempt to burn a Yankee candle in anything bigger. Sometimes I can, most of the time… no.
