I was quite excited to get my candles - they say "buy direct from the factory". I was able to take advantage of the buy-one get-one free a few months ago and I got several. The candles are in regular canning jars with a label on the lid. They look like a whipped wax, somewhat fluffy. They burn clean, but even the website says you must burn 6 hours at a time, so you have to commit once they are lit! : ) The candles have a small cold throw. I burned several for 2-3 days to evaluate them and unfortunately, unless it was a cinnamon base, I only smelled hot wax. Scents tried: Honeydew, CK1, Apple Spice, Home Sweet Home. As I said, the Apple Spice and the Home Sweet Home (cinnamon based) had a small throw, and I could not detect throw from the others until the candle was almost gone - perhaps the oils ran down through the wax to the bottom? I noticed that the Honeydew had a darker stripe across the bottom 2 inches of the jar. I really wanted to love these candles and am hoping that I just got duds - I look forward to other reports. I gave a 4 because the cinnamon is OK and the candles have burned cleanly, but the no-throw is a disappointment. Update: 6/25/07 I tried the Vineyard (grape) this past week. Wonderful throw when cold! When burning, still not as much as cinnamon flavors but a little more noticeable. I forgot to mention, these candles use wire in the wicks!
