Slatkin & Co. Candles

Slatkin produces some of the most luxurious scented candles on the market today. Candle lines include Kabbalah candles, Elton John candles and more.
can't find it.

In December 2006, I purchased a Slatkin & Co. candle at Bath & Body Works. Elton John "Fireside" scent, where a portion of the proceeds are to benefit The Elton John Aids Foundation. 10 ounce candle, in an attractive gold/frosted pattern tumbler for the holidays, creamy white wax. Absolutely TOTALLY AWESOME scent! I am not a fan of vanilla at all, but in this candle it was the absolute perfect accompaniment to what I believe is cedarwood and/or sandalwood definitely, maybe a hint of orange and pine or balsam. Smells like a winter "fireside" befitting its name. Beautiful burn, full melt pool and good scent throw. One candle pleasantly scented my entire living/dining area (about 30x20). I havent measured burn time, but has to be upwards of 40-50 hours. I was impressed. So I went back and bought 2 more of the Fireside tumbler candles (last 2 in the store) and 2 vials of the matching home fragrance oil in the Fireside scent. Full price is on the moderate side for this size candle, $16.50. By no means expensive. Similar size of the Bendel candles were pushing $30 at Bath & Body Works. (I am not a fan of Bendel.) I waited until 50% off, so only paid $8.25 for each candle and $3.75 (regular $7.50) for each fragrance oil. Bummer that this may only be a one time holiday scent! I will consider trying other Slatkin candles if they produce another scent I like or if they bring this scent back next season. All thumbs up.

I am a fan of Slatkin's scents but feel they could burn better for the price. They are starting to do a lot more sales, however, so that helps. If I want an actual candle I usually get the small size and place it on a warmer rather than lighting it. Their oils, however, are excellent so I am using more of those than the actual candles. You get a lot of coupons at this store (Bath and Body Works) so it is well worth your time to try them out.

just bought several of the seasonal candles. The single wick 4 oz jars seem to burn all the way down with medium throw. I have had difficulty with the 3-wicks tunneling in the Leaves scent. Nice seasonal scents; love Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, Spiced Cider, Sandalwood vanilla, and Leaves.

Slatkin is yet another of the B&BW clone/brands, and offers a similar performance to the B&BW label and the White Barn label. My only Slatkin candle purchase was a 14.5 oz Caramel Pumpkin jar, purchased at a half-price sale at B&BW. The cold sniff was yummy: rich, creamy caramel mixed with pumpkin. I wanted to get a spoon! The hot throw was.... nothing. I hovered over the candle and sniffed throughout the life of this jar, but to no avail. I burned this in a 250 sq. ft. room with 8 ft. ceilings, which is pretty good size, but shouldn't prove to be too much for a scented candle (others have done it, Slatkin was... well... slackin'). The amber jar was a nice change from the usual clear offering, and added a nice Fall-color touch to my candle arrangement as this burned. The 3-wick candle burns clean and complete, but it also burns very fast. This was gone in 10 days, and I'm being generous if I say I got 50 hours out of it. It also had some wick issues. It had a tendency to get close to the drowning point fairly quickly and much of the burn time was spent watching little blue flames with very little yellow. Little to no wick maintenance was needed with this candle; there was no sooting and precious little trimming required. If I'd paid $19.50 (the full price) for this candle, I'd have been really upset. That's a premium price tag and one should get a premium performance for it. With such a "eh" experience, why would I recommend them? Well, the Slatkin *oils* are a whole 'nother thing. Their Perfect Autumn Pumpkin, Tree, Winter, Vanilla Bean Noel, etc. are all very fine scents. When used in a fragrance burner, you get a good throw and a consistently excellent experience. If you find the scent irresistible, do yourself a favor and put down the candle - and pick up the fragrance oil. Slatkin has their scent chops down cold, but translating it to wax is still a destination for them.
