I tried one of these candles last year in a scent called river rock . it was supposed to smell like a wet rock in the rain . It did smell a lot like that but also was a little musky to me . Kinda reminded me of an incense sort of smell. It sooted alot and you often have to keep trimming the wick . I do love the box it comes in and the medallion on the glass. It would make for a nice gift for someone . They are also very strongly scented. If you like musky kind of smells id recommend this scent. i cant base the line on one scent so not sure about the others.

Fragrance: Desert Candle Cost: $23.00 I purchased my first Votivo candle at a local store called Mexidona. I’m there quite a bit but never purchase any because they’re so expensive. 23.00 for a 7.3oz candle is VERY expensive to me. The nice aspect of having a certain brand in a store is you get to smell them all rather than the guessing game when shopping online. They had well over a dozen fragrances to choose from, most of them smelling really earthy and musky to me so out of the lot, I chose Desert Candle which seemed fitting to me considering I live in the desert. It smells good but if I’m being honest, it's nothing out of the ordinary. It has a sweet herbal fragrance to it but nothing I can pinpoint. Basically, it was okay… nothing special and I’m a little disappointed since I paid so much for this small candle. My candle is burning evenly although it’s smoking a lot and I’m having to trim the wick all the time. Watching a billow of smoke rise from my candle isn't exactly good! The glass has turned completely black and it makes me wonder how healthy that can be... NOT GOOD! The packaging is the best part. The candle itself is beautiful… thick glass with a medallion of some sort attached to the candle, it gives it a really rustic look. For those of you who love earthy/musky smells, you would probably like this line of candles if you don’t mind the price tag of 20 dollars or more depending on where you purchase it & the black smoke.

My goal lately has been to find an ocean or water scented candle that actually reminds me of water. I can't really describe what water smells like, but I'm just on a hunt for the most authentic water or ocean candle. So far I haven't had any luck. I recently bought my first Votivo candle from ScentsandSprays.com. Since Votivo is a luxury brand, it was really expensive just for one of their small glass jar candles, but as I said in an earlier review, I used the old "business expense" excuse. :-) Hey...this is important research! :-) I got the Votivo Water scented candle hoping it would remind me of the ocean or something, but no luck. It has a very strong prefumy kind of scent, which I absolutely don't care for at all. I'm all about scents that smell like they came from nature, so when I come across a real strong "perfumy" scent, it just doesn't do it for me....it just smells way too fake. I know I can't base my whole opinion of Votivo on just one scent, so I'll wait to try more of their scents before I totally make up my mind. My rating of 3 in this review is just for this scent, not the company as a whole. I just wanted to warn you about this Water scent...especially if you're not into strong "perfumy" type scents. Before I bought this candle, I read so many great reviews on ScentsandSprays.com from Votivo customers who just absolutely love Votivo's Water. This scent is actually one of Votivo's bestsellers! I don't get it. I guess they're are a lot of candle lovers out there who like the "perfumy" kind of scents...you can count me out. I'm starting to wonder if there are any candle companies out there that have a water scent that doesn't smell "perfumy" and that would actually remind me of the ocean. If you know of any, PLEASE contact me by clicking the Contact link at the bottom of this page. I'm onto find another Water scented candle to try... Until next time, happy candle burning!
