Paraffinalia Candles

"Hand-poured, long-burning candles saturated with fragrance."

OK, before we start I have a confession to make; most of you will be "right there" with me. I have been to so many candle sites, both listed on Candlefind and not yet listed, that I had to find a way to keep track of all those luscious-sounding scents out there. So I actually have a notebook (printed pages from a Word doc), listing candle links, with scents I would want to try under each name. How many sites, pages? Never ending, haha. When I'm in the mood for a certain kind of scent, there are my notes & a link to scent heaven. So it was that PARAFFINALIA was in my notebook, begging me to try a couple of holiday scents this year. Going through some tough times here on the home front, and I need some "comfort & joy." While others may turn to the bottle, I turn to the jar...the CANDLE jar. Nothing like trying a new scent to brighten one's mood, right? I chose two new scents to try. I always read the "About Us" pages on candle websites. Pariffinalia had some comments which reeled me in: "saturated with the finest oils. We use a minimum of four, and up to six oils in every scent we create. Each fragrance is custom-made, we never accept a manufacturer’s blend. " Aaaah...candle makers who love their craft! Unique blending, how could I resist? ' I chose two scents to try, in 10 ounce jars. Customer service was amazing, these people deserve a "10" for that! They sent me two emails, providing me with a tracking number for my order! That's pretty much unheard of outside of eBay. I chose "PUMPKIN FUDGE" and "O HOLY NIGHT." Both scents were wonderful, and I will return to this company to try some more. PUMPKIN FUDGE: Loved, my favorite of the two. It struck me as a very pure scent...nothing fake, nothing artificial, just awesome. Pumpkin itself is sort of a bland scent in the natural world (why it's given so many spices), so it wasn't surprising that I couldn't detect much of that. I got the "fudge", sort of softened a little, and very realistic! I love chocolately scents, but this was not overbearing, it was blended very very nicely. I found myself inhaling deeply. O HOLY NIGHT: I guessed right, it's sort of a frankincense & myrrh scent, and done very nicely. These people really know their blending; you don't really sit there and pick out separate notes, it all comes together. This was definitely a more realistic F & M scent than ones I've tried before. I would describe the scent strength on both as medium; and the throw was awesome! The scents carried and wafted through my home, and even lingered well after candles were out. Good signs of quality oils. I know my wax by now, and the wax blend was quality too. To soy lovers out there, don't let "paraffin" in the name scare you off. No smoking or sooting, even when I lit one too-long wick (which I then snipped). The wax has flexibility to it, it's not hard, and I like that. So why not a "10"? I never did get a burn all the way to the edge of the jar, probably because the jars themselves only had one wick, when two would have been better. So yes, these candles required some maintenance as they burned; I gently hugged the outermost edges to the center so that they wouldn't tunnel. But it was very easy to do so, the wax co-operated and the jar sides were indeed clean as I did so. So I did love this company, and I am so glad that I did take the plunge!
