I normally burn tarts for the strong smell, so I'm not usually a good one to review candles as they never measure up to a tart. However.... I tried a Pilgrim candle from a local store in Red Delicious Apple. I tend to favor more woodsy scents, but it was the only one they had. It came in a darling old fashioned look lantern for 19.95 (20 OZ) and the glass candle part can be refilled, so next time I only buy the glass candle for 15.95 (at this store, anyway.) I smelled the scent less than ten minutes after lighting and honest, it was just like cutting open a fresh, crisp apple. I burned it in my kitchen and it's a large room. Eventually, I had to blow it out because it was very strong and because I'm not a huge fan of fruit scents, it was too much for me. The candle lid on the lantern has a built-in topper to control soot and I never had any come off it. It also burned evenly and did not tunnel. I've ordered Balsam Fir from their website and other tart scents, so I'll post them after burning. I got their car jar in the Balsam Fir and I didn't want to get out of my car, it smelled so good! If the candles and tarts yet to arrive are as good as this one, Good Bye Yankee! You won't be diappointed if you purchase this candle. The online order options at their website take awhile to load (if you don't have DSL like me) so wait for that or you'll think you can't order online. **UPDATE** 12/20/05 Well, bummer.... I received the order I'd been waiting for - Balsam Fir and tarts in various scents. Because the apple fragranced candle was so strong, I was anticipating the same thing from their other candles. I put the Balsam Fir in my test room (which is a fancy way of saying I lit it in my bedroom, shut the door, then returned in an hour to see how it smelled) and I could smell it if I was close by, but it didn't scent the entire small room. I had also put tarts in different holders and though the scents were pleasant enough (Winter Woods, Hollyberry, Balsam Fir) I had to actually walk up to the tart burner to smell them and that's unusual for a tart. Also, in little over an hour, the scent turned to nothing more than the smell of hot wax. I'm HUGELY disappointed after the great performance of their Red Delicious Apple candle. They may have other scents that perform as outstanding, but with so many new candle companies out there now and because I'm not a great fan of apple, I won't be ordering from Pilgrim anymore.
