In my quest to find an outstanding Vanilla candle, I came across Shortie's. They have a Vanilla Bean scent I just had to try. It is awesome and I have placed numerous orders! Their Vanilla Bean scent is powerful, rich and creamy. When I burn my candles I can't help but to take a deep breath in and smile. I have never had a problem with an order until my last one. I ordered 3 Vanilla Bean Candles in the 23 oz size. When I got them home and started to burn them, they burned clean and evenly as always, but hardly had a scent throw. Since it was not by far my first Vanilla Bean candle from their company, I emailed them. Customer service was very prompt, concerned and professional. They actually gave me a discount code to use on my next order which was very nice. I have tried other scents from them, but keep coming back to the Vanilla Bean....my favorite. Other nice points about Shortie's is their offer of free shipping for orders over $65.00 and their daily and weekly sales on various scents. ----Update---- Since I love Shortie's Vanilla Bean, when they came out with Vanilla Bean Walnut I couldn't resist. The addition of the walnut to the already incredible vanilla bean is outstanding. People coming into my house kept swearing I was baking something! The only problem I have now when I order is - Vanilla Bean or Vanilla Bean Walnut???? I'm not sure which one I like better!

I purchased three large candles from Shorties, they have a soft wax and only have jar candles in 5 different sizes. I chose the largest 23oz. I ordered White chocolate mint, oatmeal raisin cookie and spiced amaretto. The spiced amaretto was a gift, the cold smell was nice. The white chocolate mint has been nice, very strong throw goes all around my large downstairs a strong peppermint/chocolate scent. The oatmeal raisin cookie scent is nice, not as strong as I thought it would be and as was suggested on the site. They have this cool thing called a "Scentometer" and it is supposed to tell you how strong the throw will be on the different scents. All the ones I chose were to have strong throws. I have enjoyed the White Chocolate mint and got this one on sale for approx $16. I think I will try some more scents, I will stick with the stronger ones and the largest jars though. If you like the peppermint/chocolate scent-they have a very nice version. Their jars are clear with little labeling which is a nice change also. So far the candles are burning cleanly requiring the regular wick trimming. Overall a good experience.I will order again. ****Have ordered again. Love the White Chocolate mint!! :) Also like the Blueberry Lemon

Shortie's offers a big variety of scents and it can be a daunting task to pick some to try, but since I was looking for specific scents it made that a bit easier. I've tried a half-dozen jars (the 10oz size) and several melts and the majority were very strong as advertised. The jars burn cleanly and I've had no wick-drowning issues. The scents I tried (including Vanilla Bean, Vanilla Bean Walnut, Eucalyptus Spearmint, White Chocolate Mint and Orange) were accurately described both in scent and strength (via their Scent O Meter rating system). I was especially impressed with the Vanilla Bean Walnut's throw because most vanillas are pretty subdued. The melts that arrived OK did well - true scents and great throws - but it was the melts that didn't that have discouraged me from purchasing again. Two of the clamshells arrived wrinkly and with fragrance oil leaking out of them. I called Shortie's to see what they had to say about it, and I was told that it was normal for some fragrances to do that. Since I'm not a candlemaker, I don't know if this is true, if I got a misinformed CS rep, or if it's just BS, but in any case - normal or not - these melts didn't throw at all. I can't say I'm surprised because the packing material smelled great. It had soaked up a lot of the leaking oil. The fact that there was a problem hasn't turned me off - it's the fact that it was brushed aside. I've clicked "yes" on recommendations in this review only because there is no "maybe" option. I might recommend them to someone seeking a great vanilla and with a high tolerance for things going wrong without fixing them, but honestly I'd try to steer them elsewhere first. That also brought my star rating down quite a bit. Candlewise, these are easily an 8, but the lack of attention to my issue weighs heavily against that. A great-smelling product does nothing for me if it's merely scenting my packing materials and not my home. It's a shame because they have several other scents I'd liked to have tried, but there are too many other wax vendors out there for me to go back to one that didn't treat me all that well when there was a problem.
