Wowee! These are another great "find" from this site. This is a great candle company. I ordered several of the smallest jar candles and they scent my entire living space! They do exactly what is stated on the site. Strong scent in my bedroom, subtle scent in the larger living area. All the candles are double wicked, and they burn amazingly clean and to the edge. The scent descriptions are right on. She has a great selection of bakery scents (which are my favorite!), and a decent selection of other scents as well. Shipping was quick and she used the flat rate USPS box so it was reasonable. The order was well packed and arrived in tact. I will order from them again and soon!

This is the needle in the haystack. I've ordered numerous candles from numerous companys and this is by far the best. I ordered 5 double wick 16oz candles just to get a feel for the company. Ordering was simple and you get to pick your own color. I let them choose the color this time around. The candles arrived quickly, in a matter of days and we fired up the coconut and the scent throw was everything they said it would be. A nice change from our point of view. The candles have been burning evenly with no smoke what so ever. Great service and outstanding candles. I would be a mistake not to try this company out. Henry

I purchased 4 16oz candles, lemon cream, mixed berry crumble, ginger fig and blackberry pie. I was thrilled with every one of them. I put the Ginger Fig in my bedroom and it is such a pleasant aroma to relax with, it fills my entire room and hallway. The blackberry pie, I have to say is now my absolute favorite candle ever!!!! It smells sooooo good and the throw is amazing, you can smell it through out my entire downstairs. Lemon cream and mixed berry crumble are also wonderful, it really does smell like your baking with these burning. I will definitely reorder from here again and again. They are without doubt the best candles I ever had.

I purchased 2 of the jar candles in Granny's Pie Crust and Spice Cake. I couldn't wait to try these after reading the reviews. I LOVE the Granny's Pie Crust. The candles have double wicks, so the burn is wonderful. This one is very strong, smells just like the name :) I haven't burned the Spice Cake, but just by opening the jar, it smells wonderful also. I will definately purchase these candles again! The customer service was wonderful, and the shipping was very fast.

I ordered a couple of candles from the Spotted Hog and so far I am impressed. I ordered all 16oz jars in a variety of scents. I immediately lit the Strawberry Crunch because I was intrigued to smell strawberry jam and sugar cookie and believe me, it smells just like it says. It is a different scent but a very unique scent, unlike any others I've smelled. Great kitchen scent. The throw on this candle is very strong, which I love. It overpowers my Circle E(40oz)Bird of Paradise candle in the next room. This little 16oz candle smells up my entire house. I'm loving this candle company so far. I can't wait to burn the rest. They all had a great cold smell except the Lemon Cream smelled a little like lemon pledge to me cold. Hopefully the hot scent will be much better, especially after reading the previous reviews about that scent. Will keep you updated. Thanks Tarrah - love them so far! **************************** I am now on my third order from Tarrah. I absolutely love her candles. I just lit my orange chiffon cake. It is definitely a subtle orange scent but it smells wonderful and the scent throw is super strong. I'm never disappointed when I get my candles. I can't wait to see her bakery line. I strongly recommend these candles to everyone. If she has an almond scent coming out I'll be one of the first ones to order it! ************************************* I'm loving this company more and more! I just received my third order today. Tarrah even threw in some of the cute bakery tarts she is going to sell. I recently burned two sinfully vanilla tarts in my bedroom and I could smell it through the walls. It was so strong! It was like vanilla with a hint of chocolate to it. I had to turn my burner off after about 3 hours because it was that strong.(in a good sense). She sent me a blackberry jam butter cookie pie shaped tart and I am burning it right now. All I can say is that I love, love, love this scent. My house smells so good! She also sent me 2 little cupcake tarts in 7-up Pound Cake. They are so cute and smell awesome. So many candles, so little time. I know I'll be back to order especially when the bakery line is available. I love her tarts!

I got a order a few weeks ago, and there are two scents i totally fell in love with: Piggy Peanut Butter Cookies and Vanilla Pound Cake. The peanutbutter cookies...is HEAVEN. I've never smelled anything soooo good, authentic and yummy!!! I was blown away! I will be reordering this one! The next one is Vanilla Pound Cake. This was actually a free sample that came with my order (thank you Tarrah!) It was soo yummy. It was a little chunk of square wax, but it scented up the whole apartment for at least 5 hours, maybe more. I lost track lol. I will be reordering this one also. AWESOME company and customer service, highly recommended!

I purchased the cinnamon clove and some of the tarts. These candles burn so clean. I never had such a clean burning candle. The scents have a great throw also. I had a problem with the wicks on one of them and they sent me one in replace of it. They were really nice to work with. I am a customer for life now. Cristina

I love this company! I've been wanting to order from the spotted hog for about a month now, and I finally gave in. I'm so glad I did! Not only do they have great customer service (answered my question via email the same day I sent it), but their candles & tarts are wonderful! I ordered 4 11oz jars in strawberry crunch, citrus breeze, blueberry flapjacks, and spa. I also ordered 3 tarts in apricot peach medley, paradise, and blackberry jam butter cookie. And they sent me a free tart in blueberry java crumble along with my order! So far, I've only burned 2 jars: strawberry crunch & citrus breeze. I LOVE the citrus breeze! I'm a huge citrus/fresh scent lover and this one is definately a winner! It's strong, but not overwhelming, and smells like lemon mixed with a bunch of other citrus notes. Not sure but its great! The strawberry crunch is also good, not my favorite, but its strong and smells exactly as described: strawberry jam combined with sugar cookie. The cold smell on it didn't really smell like the description, but once I had it burning for awhile it lived up to its name! I tried the apricot peach medley because of another review on here, and I have to say it's awesome! I'll definately be ordering that one in a large jar soon! I haven't tried the other scents yet - but I'll definately post another review once I do!

I have looked at this company for well over a year and just figured it would be the same ole, same ole, so I never ordered, but OH MY GOODNESS!, this is definitely not the same ole when it comes to their tarts! Yes, I am impressed :) I am not a tart burner. Reason being, I just never got the throw from a tart as I do burning a candle. Normally I burn 2-3 candles in my liv. rm. and at least 2 if not 3 in my kitchen (because of the openess of my home and I like to smell what I am burning). I was sent a free tart with my candle order and decided to give it a try. The scent is fizzy pop, but not the fizzy pop that I am used too. This tart has a different, better scent than any fizzy pop I have ever burned and has a WOW!, zip to it! I had it going no more than 15 minutes and it not only scented my kitchen, but as well my dining rm. and liv. rm. and is now beginning to scent my utility rm.!...from just 1 small tart!!! I am not using an electric tart burner, but am using a tart burner that uses a t-light (I think burners work better using t-lights). I hate to say it, but I think Spotted Hog may have just turned me into a tart user :) Gotta buy some more tart burners now. I also tried 2 candles (one did not have enough scent throw for me but did smell very good and the other was just out of this world, awesome!, as was the fizzy pop). They are replacing the awesome scent for me (my wicks went low flame but it still had a great throw regardless). The customer service was outstanding. I wish they had more scents to choose from tho (more flower, perfume type, musky scents & chocolate variations). I gave a 10 (and am leary of giving any company a 10 anymore because it seems after you get an order or so, the quality drops). But given the reviews for this company, I do not think that will be a problem. I have a VERY happy nose!

What a great company! I found it thanks to Candlefind and am really glad I did. Until recently I pretty much burned only Yankee Candles. In my quest for different (and lower priced) candles to try, I stumbled across Candlefind, and from Christina's review and those of other members I decided to try The Spotted Hog. Spotted Hog specializes in bakery scents, which I love, especially around this time of year. I had a hard time making up my mind on which scents to try. Finally, I bought one or two tarts each in a bunch of different scents: Iced Cinnamon Rolls, Bananas Foster, Jelly Donut, Raspberry Zinger Cake, Hot Orange Danish, Strawberry Lemonade, Iced Oatmeal Cookies, and Carrot Cake. The Spotted Hog has a wonderful "tart bakery" line which I just couldn't resist, so at my daughter's urging I bought some mini tarts shaped like cupcakes (complete with sprinkles) in Orange Chiffon Cake. Since the jar candles were so reasonably priced, I also added an 18 oz apothecary jar in Lemon Pound Cake. My order arrived within a week (and I made my husband call me at work when it was delivered!):) The first tart I tried was one of the little cupcakes in Orange Chiffon Cake. WOW. The scent description on the website says "you will be blown away by this scent," and they weren't kidding. Not only was it incredibly strong (one mini cupcake filled my whole 2,000+ sq foot house - I could even smell it in the basement), but it was unbelievably true to life. I smell the orange, vanilla and cake flavors, of course, but this fragrance actually has a WARM smell to it, like cake does when it's baking in the oven. I've never experienced a scent like this before and I've been burning candles for years. The next scent I tried was Carrot Cake, and to be perfectly honest it didn't smell at all like carrot cake to me or to my family. It didn't smell bad - in fact, the fragrance was quite complex and wonderful - but just not what I was expecting. The Lemon Pound Cake jar candle was quite as strong as advertised. It had a strong emphasis on the lemon with just a hint of vanilla to it, so if you're looking for more of a sweeter scent you may want to try something else. However, I really liked it and am saving it for the spring and summer months when I like to burn the fruit scents. The double-wicked jar burned really well with no sooting or tunnelling. I burned it for four hours and it looks like there's barely any wax gone, so I'm sure it will last a long time. Today I tried the Bananas Foster tart - it came in a two ounce cup, so I cut it in half and burned it in two tart warmers - one upstairs and one down. Another great fragrance and incredible throw! I plan to buy this one again. The tart filled my entire house within 15 minutes and lasted for at least nine hours. My overall impressions: I will definitely order from The Spotted Hog again. The quality of both the burn and the scent throw is really hard to beat, especially when you consider the low prices. The packaging, labeling and jar designs are cute, and I love the tart bakery and the fact that you can choose your own wax color for the jar candles. The website is attractive and easy to navigate, and they offer fast shipping at a flat rate. - UPDATE 3/28/07- My earlier review of Spotted Hog is pretty long already, so I'll keep this short. I placed another order and have been burning some more of their scents in tart form. Most of them smell great, but some of them - like the Carrot Cake and Lemon Pound Cake I mentioned earlier - just aren't what I expected. One example is the Spiced Pear scent, which didn't smell at all like either pears or spices until it had been burning awhile, and then only slightly - it mainly smelled perfumey. (I know it wasn't just my nose because both of my kids asked me separately what scent I was burning...and with all the candles I burn they're pretty experienced at identifying scents. They didn't think it smelled bad but said this one was "weird.") Flipping back through some earlier reviews of this company I've noticed that others have had similar experiences. All in all though I still feel that Spotted Hog is a great company in both their products and customer service. In the future though I think I'll just stick to their tried-and-true scents like the Orange Chiffon Cake and Mixed Berry Crumble.

I have ordered a couple of times from this company and have been very happy with my candles. I ordered a honeydew and strawbeery lemonade, and they both smell wonderful and authentic with a very strong scent throw. They burn nicely you just have to trim the wicks often. They offer soy candles also which the honey dew was soy and it had a very strong scent throw still and burned real nice. I like this company alot and will be ordering from them again.

This brand needs no introduction on this website since most people are familiar with it. They had a long list of scents available in tarts and both soy and paraffin candles. Personally I only ordered candles since I've never used melts before but they sent me 2 gift tarts. Grandma pie crust: This was one of their most popular scents, so I decided to get it. It's a very nice cake/crust scent but nothing out of the ordinary. It was very mild when I lit it up but the scent got much stronger later. 8/10 Goblin Sin-a-mon sugar: A very nice cinammon smell that's a little sweet, I honestly just liked the name when I purchased it but it didn't disappoint. 9/10 Buttery Croissant: This perhaps was the only scent I got disappointed with. It wasn't bad, but I was expecting a more buttery scent instead of a straight up croissant. 6/10 Lemon Pound Cake: I Love lemon, and sweet lemon scents are my favorite. This one was GREAT, not my favorite but definitely something I'll buy again. 10/10 Orange Chiffon Cake: I love Orange scents as well, but I really dislike straight up orange scents, and most orange scents I tried were straight up even if labeled as something else. This one however smelled just as the name suggests! not the perfect orange scent I'm looking for but still 10/10 Teddy Grahams whippet tart: WOW, this one was a freebie and I was blown away by it, I had to get a melter for it and it is probably the best cinnamon scent I have tried period. It's a very strong straight up cinnamon, well maybe a little sweetened. 10/10 Sinful Vanilla tart: another freebie, I wasn't blown away with it but it was still good and strong, one of the better straight up vanillas out there. 10/10 Overall: 9/10 This site was one of the few online experiences that did not disappoint me with a single scent. Their scents descriptions are quite accurate. And the free gifts were even better than what I ordered (usually you get new items or items that don't sell very well, but they sent me their best sellers!) The candles were the small ones (8oz) and they were strong enough to fill a small room. But their tarts filled almost all of my 2 bedroom apartment!. I have two very small negative comments: While their scent descriptions were accurate, their rating system was not. All of their scents were either 4/5 or 5/5 and I only ordered the 5/5 and there was a huge variety in the strength. No worries though, none of their candles has a scent strength of less than "medium". The other is that their website (as an online store) could be improved as they have a lot of items, a lot of forms that these items can come in and it's all over the place, some text is not even readable due to it's color or placement. Still one of the best candles I've tried, I absolutely have to get more of their tarts soon!

I ordered two 16 oz. jar candles. They arrived quickly and were well packed. They burn well, leaving no wax on the sides of the jars. The two wicks "mushroom" and burn with no smoke. A deep pool of melted wax forms.

I ordered four of the smaller, I beleive 8oz. jar candles from this company. They arrived fast, and were packaged well, They come in cute, canning jars with lids, raffia tie with label. I love the double wicks. Of the four candles I bought, as far as scent throw, three are fantastic, one is just OK The first one I burned was Orange Chiffon Cake. It didn't smell to me like the Orange Chiffon Cake I'm used to....in fact at first I couldn't smell any orange. After about an hour, it filled up my kitchen with a really nice scent....tho hard to describe. After about an hour and a half I could detect undertones of orange. I'm not a big orange fan, but decided I really like this scent, and would definately order it again. The next one I burned was Lemon Drop. I love lemon scents, and again, this one filled my kitchen with a very nice, authentic lemon scent. The third one was Mindrest. This one is meant to be a soothing scent. It definately does not have the scent throw of the other two, and didn't give my bedroom much scent....I can smell it when I walk past it...nice scent, just not very strong. The last one is Macintosh Apple. I love fresh apple scents, and this one is very true to it's name. Again, this one filled my kitchen with scent, and even drifted into the living room area. I was pleased overall, and would order again from this company.

This company has tempted me ever since I first discovered Candlefind! After months of self-restraint and even though I have plenty of "inventory", I succumbed and made an order, taking advantage of the free tart sale - Happy Valentine's Day to me! On impulse, I ordered three jar candles and some tarts - the scents are Mixed Berry Crumble, Blackberry Pie, Orange Chiffon Cake, Citrus Breeze, Hawaiian Breeze, Rosemary & Sage, Spice Cake and Spa. These are all true and lovely scents, with Spa being the real standout so far. Overall, I am very happy with these candles (clean, even burning and nice scent throw) and tarts (long lasting and excellent scent throw) and will definitely order from them again.

I needed some tea lights. I have never purchased from the Spotted Hog. I thought purchasing some tea lights would be a great way to test the waters. My first impression is a great one. The packaging is adorable; you could easily give them away as gifts just as they are. Here is what I got… BANANA NUT BREAD – I can’t tell you how many BNB’s I have purchased trying to find that perfect one. This is one of the better ones I have tried. It is still not “THE ONE”. These oil suppliers/makers need to bake themselves a loaf of Banana Nut Bread and then compare it to their BNB oil. My search goes on. CRANBERRY – This was a new cranberry to me in that it is very sweet. My experience so far has been with more tart cranberry scents. This one smells like what a cranberry fruit punch would smell like…if they made one…they might…I don’t know. I really liked this one a lot. GINGER FIG – I love the smell of real ginger. This candle is very similar. There are so many versions of fig out there right now that it’s hard for me to pick out the Fig scent but so long as you like ginger you’ll be fine with this candle. Do not expect a sweet/fruity candle. It’s a keeper in my book. Mulberry – I have never purchased a mulberry candle before so I didn’t know what to expect. This candle smells just like the Hawaiian Fruit Punch my mother wouldn’t buy me as a child. I love this candle. Fruity, fruity, fruity! Citrus Breeze – My first whiff was of citrus greatness. My second whiff I thought it might be a bit on the fake air freshner side. I keep going back and forth on this one. Even if it is just a bit on the fake air freshner side it is really good. And it’s strong! The tea lights seemed to burn just fine. I had to blow them out after three hours and there was plenty of wax left in them, which is really good. This company is just now coming out with soy in addition to their regular wax. This is great news for me where as it is my preference to purchase 100% soy. Soon they will have soy tea lights. I’m going to buy from here again. I’ll add onto my review as I try new scents.

I ordered two 28 oz. jar candles for my first order with Spotted Hog Candle Company after reading the reviews here, they just happened to be on sale for just $16.00 each!!! What a deal! I did feel as though the shipping was a bit high, but that was offset by the special deal on the candles in my opinion! I ordered Spice Cake and Sinfully Vanilla. I lit the Spice Cake first in my huge great room (30' X 25' room with 16' ceiling) and boy did it smell awesome within 30 minutes! Out of 10 stars, I'd give this candle a 10! The Sinfully Vanilla I lit in my bedroom. While I thought this candle smelled good, I didn't think the scent throw was all that great, out of 10 stars I'd give this one a 7. I did, however, have a hard time with the way the Spice Cake candle burned. It had to be dug out a few times, even though I ALWAYS let my candles burn 2-6 hours at a time and am faithful about keeping the wicks trimmed properly. One of the wicks with this candle kept getting burried for some reason, but I managed to fix it both times. I would love to try some other scents from this company, but I am going to continue to find that perfect candle company... let me explain... I used to work for a small local gift shop and we had one of the area's largest selection of Yankee Candles, Bridgewater, McCalls, as well as other candles, our shop smelled so strong that I was so used to that smell that any candle I burn has to be SUPER strong! So, I have to say that I am quite pleased with my candles from Spotted Hog Candle Company... mostly for the price that I paid!

I have ordered a few times from here. The first time I ordered just one candle in Biscotti-it had a good throw, but I wanted more of an almond smell-sent an e-mail-never heard back. Placed a second order: Sinfully Vanilla-excellent throw, not my favorite vanilla-there is a pastry scent in there too. Lemon Cream-great throw, yummy scent, Apricot Smoothie-I did not even light this one-I just gave it away, the cold smell was perfume-like, so I passed-didn't give it a chance though. Have another order coming soon-will let you know about it of course!!! :) I think I ordered about 4 scents: Margarita Slush, Strawberry Crunch, Spiced Cake and Spiced Pear. These were all on sale 18 or 28oz jar candles. I would recommend this company!! Give it a try!!!! The jars are nice, the candles burn clean and you get to pick the colors, shipping can be a little slow. ************25APR06******** Came back to say I was wrong about Tarrah and apoligize. Tarrah did get back to me showed me my original message and it in fact did not seem like a question. My apoligies. I do like these candles, and would recommend them-in fact just got my third box today. ***********26APR06******** Burning the Strawberry Crunch and to me this smells just like a strawberry breakfast cereal!! Brings back memories of being a little kid. :) ********************29APR06 Tarrah has found an Almond-(she is testing this one) and is also looking for another scent for me!! TERRIFIC!! She was getting oils and asked me if I had any wants!! I thought that was great-Great customer service! Hopefully there are some other Almond lovers out there!!! :)

I received a couple of these jar candles as a gift in "Pearberry" and "Spa." Both had strong throws--actually the best throws of any brand I have tried. "Spa" had a clean soapy smell. Would be good in a bath room. "Pearberry" smelled like the Bath and Body Works scent. 16 oz. jar candles were double-wicked and the candles burned all the way down...no tunneling. You do need to keep the wicks trimmed if leaving them to burn for a while because there will be some soot. Once I kept the wicks trimmed then they burned cleanly.

After hearing Christina's review of this company I had to try them. I have ordered the 16 oz. jars, votives, and tealights. The scents are very authentic. My favorites are Lemon Chiffon, Orange Cream Cake, Sage and Citrus, Plumeria, Mulberry, and Dickens Christmas. I like the fact that I have choices not only in jar sizes available but in what type of wax I want and color. Tarrah goes out of her way for you. I was looking for a particular scent, and she made it for me. She always answers my e-mails quickly and on a particular occasion, even called me. I live in California and she in New York. Now that is service. Her fragrance list keeps growing and growing. I wasn't into bakery scents until I tried some of her scents. I will definitely keep ordering from her. I'm looking forward to her soybean votive that she is working on and hopefully will be available soon.

I ordered several tarts from this company and so far I have only melted one of them. The one that I chose first was Cinnamon donuts. It had a great scent throw, but I couldn't detect a donut smell, but there was a definate scent of cinnamon. I have several more tarts to melt and a candle and as I melt or burn these, I will give my opinion. So far I am very pleased with m purchase.

I ordered 2 times from this company. The first candle I got was maple syrup. It was paraffin...I didn't like the smell so much but my husband loved it so it must have just been my nose. It burned better than any paraffin candle I've ever burned. Clean, no soot, nice and even. I guess I didn't realize the first time I ordered that they had soy candles which I prefer now. My second order was a 16oz soy candle in Blackberry Jam Buttercookie. This is one of my new favorites scents ever...At first, you can only smell the blackberry but after a while, you can smell the sweet undertone of the cookie. It's wonderful! Again, burned perfectly, no soot, smoke and no wasted wax. These candles burn for a long time and they are strong from start to finish. Shipping was fast, I think I got both candles within 5 days of ordering.

So far this company has lived up to it's reputation! Received my order in 1 week. Great shipping for this busy season!! I ordered a lot of clamshell tarts, some single tarts and (1) candle. Soon as I got the box I sniffed all the tarts right away! The cold smell on some of these was strange and light. I was so dissappointed. Then I lit them.**** WOW!!!**** The hot smell is TERRIFIC!! So far I've burned: CINNAMON GLAZED BAKLAVA- great bakery scent with a big throw. You can smell the cinnamon and sugar! DICKEN'S CHRISTMAS is unbelieveable!!! Spicy like a gum drop but mixed with musk- a wonderful Christmas fragrance-LOVE IT!! CINNAMON TOAST is a nice blend but it has more of the spicy cinnamon and light on the bread. GRANNY'S PIE CRUST seems to be a favorite and I can see why. Once it gets burning it really smells like a pie crust in the oven. You can smell every ingredient! ULTIMATE COFFEE CAKE is wonderful too. Sugar, cinnamon and pastry together. Another great thrower! I have a bunch more to try- but so far all the tarts are WINNERS!! My only complaint is that I am having a heck of a time getting the tart out of the warmer. I always put them in the freezer for 5-10 minutes, but for some reason this is not working on this brand. I'm stumped and it is fustrating!! All in all I am thrilled that this company lives up to the reviews regarding the scents. I hope the candle is just as great! :)***********************UPDATE****************** Tried the ICED CINNAMON BUN and it also smells great and true. Big throw and delicious scent. The CINNAMON SUGAR DONUTS I do not care for. I know it's a hit and miss with this scent. Some companies carry a very doughy type. I like the very cinnamony-sugary glaze type. SPICE CAKE is another terrific scent- it's bakery but it also has so much spice it reminds me of ribbon candy. I also burned my candle of MISTLETOE...it turns out that it contains something which I am allergic to...I began getting congestion and watery eyes so it was quickly extinguished and sadly I will have to give it away. I thought it was supposed to smell like YC which I can tolerate...I wish I knew and I would have ordered a different scent...I was hoping to try out these candles! I also tried burning CHRISTMAS IN THE SQUARE in tart form with the same results. Oh well. I am still happy with the rest of my order. The packaging is ADORABLE and so far the other scents are very pleasing.

I ordered the 16 oz jar candles in MULBERRY and HAWAIIAN BREEZE. I LOVE the Mulberry; it is a true and strong mulberry scent. The HAwaiian Breeze smells nice, but I can't pick out any particular fruit scents. However, both candles have great burn time, completely liquify and have a fantastic throw. AFter burning for a few hours, you do have to trim the wicks or they will begin to smoke. Once you do this, the candles burn correctly again. I have just placed an order for two more jar candles; the Sinfully Vanilla and the Paradise. I will report back on these scents. So Far, I LOVE THESE!

I just received my candles today. I ordered 5- 16oz jars. All of my candles BUT one arrived intact. Unfortunetly my poor Banana Nut jar didnt make it, It was broken badly. Unfortunelty for me i forgot to put insurance on my shipment so there wasnt anything the company could do for me. I was determined I was going to smell that lovely Banana Nut candle one way or another, so I went and removed all the broken peices of glass from the jar making sure all glass shards were removed. After that I took a butter knife and cut a tart size section out of it(Its a soy candle so it sliced like butter) and placed it in a tart warmer. FOLKS! Let me tell you that Banana Nut candle is as fine as wine! I have the tart warmer in the kitchen and just that little small peice has filled the entire bottom floor of my home (2300sq ft.) Goodness but I'm delighted! Just remember folk, they are not responsible for unforseen shipping mishaps so dont be like me and forget the Insurance. Dora

To be fair, it's not the company's fault that I can't find a scent I really like. I ordered four scents from Spotted Hog: Spiced Sugarplum, Paradise, Cherry Limeade, and Blackberry Pie. So far, only Paradise stands out as being a scent that I'd reorder. The quality of these candles is truly noteworthy. The packaging was very professional, the jars themselves are beautiful to look at, they burn clean, and have a very natural aroma to them. I just really didn't like anything I smelled. The blackberry pie had promise, but while it did have a blackberry-ish candy scent to it, I couldn't really imagine a pie while it burned. The spiced sugarplum was just horrid. Again, a personal opinion, but I found it to be flat, cloying, and lacking any of the sweetness and zing I expected from its description. This one actually made it into the trashcan after only a couple of burns. I just couldn't stomach it anymore. Cherry Limeade was not a favorite. It reminded me of cough syrup, and apparently my students agreed since they comment on the resemblence before I ever mentioned it...then proceded to beg me to put it out. *sigh* I do like paradise though. It's a really nice citrus blend that I find refreshing and not at all Pledge-like. Would I buy again? Definitely. But maybe next time I'll try a dozen or so tarts before plunking down over 40 dollars on candles. On a side note, one reason I bring candles to school is to cover the smell of stinky teenager. No offense to any parents out there, but you cram 30+ kids in a classroom and it stinks. Plain and simple. I've tried everything, but have found candles and melts work best and give me the flexibility of hundreds of scents to choose from. Spotted Hog candles were a little odd though. I could clearly smell my candle wafting down the hallway by mid-afternoon, but within the room itself the scent was very subtle. You could smell it when you walked in but it didn't really mask the after-gym sweat as well as I would have liked.

This is the first time I've tried this company & I will definitely order from them again. I ordered Applie Pie & Citrus Breeze. I thought both scents were as described & both had a great scent throw. The fact that they include some free samples & let you experience other scents for free is a nice touch.

I purchased a seasonal tart assortment of fall scents back in November that contained 24 2oz tarts. I also purchased 6 individual tarts/clam shell . This was combination of bakery and spice scents. I usually prefer spice/outdoors/fruit scents but the bakery scents are what Spotted Hog is known for so I gave the sample pack a try. I am sure glad I did. Most of the bakery scents were dead on. Most of the scents were strong with long lasting throw. Some of the scents I tried: Apples and Maple Bourbon ,Divinity Fudge, Candied Yams Carmel Apples, Berry Tangerine ,Blackberry Jam Butter Cookie, Fizzy Pop, Fireside, Fried Cinnamon Dumplings , Jack O Lanterns Glow , Spider Cider N Deadly Donuts ,Frosted Carrot Cake, Frosted Orange Cupcake, Ginger Melon, Goblin Sin-O-mon Sugar Cake,Holiday Frost, Perfect Pumpkin Pie ,Pistachio Pudding, Pumpkin Donuts , Rice Krispy Treats Scarecrows Harvest ,Seven Layer Bars. Received samples shots of Cookies for Santa,Chocolate Lava Cake,Vanilla Bean Sugar Cookies. Apples and Maple Bourbon was the strongest and lasted for days! If you enjoy maple syrup, this is the scent for you. Fizzy Pop was another interesting scent. Kind of like lemon scented Mr. Clean. Very strong. Berry Tangerine and Ginger Melon were the lightest scents. I really enjoyed, Perfect Pumkin Pie, Jack-O-Laterns Glow & Candied Yams. Frosted Orange Cupcake was my very favorite and I would burn this all year long. Smells just like orange cake baking but not too sweet. Shipping and price of tarts are a bit high compare to others but would order again.

The Spotted Hog makes truly great candles. The throw is excellent with many scents (especially Paradise and a few other strong ones) to choose from. The candles burn evenly with no help, and the tarts are great too. Give Spotted Hog a try, especially if you love bakery scents!

I ordered 4 candles from Spotted Hog. Egg Nog, Vanilla Cinnamon, Harvest and Orange Creme Cake. They come in really cute jelly jars with Raffia and cute labels. The scent throw is unbelievable from these candles! I brought the Egg Nog to work and it scented the entire office! From the front door to the back....and it is pretty big! The cinnamon vanilla and orange creme did the same at my house. They all smell great and seem to be burning smoothly. I will definetly purchase more. Oh and the customer service is FAST and FRIENDLY!!!! ***2/28/06 UPDATE*** I have since placed 2 more orders with Spotted Hog. My second order was a Banana Nut Bread, Granny's Pie Crust and a Cinnamon Banana Twist. The BNB and Granny's Pie Crust were great! The Granny's Pie Crust was my new favorite candle...it was really awesome, I thought it was probaly the best bakery scent I ever smelled!! They forgot to pack the Cinnamon Banana Twist but they did refund my money for it. On my Third order I was not quite so pleased. I ordered the 16oz jar candles in Banana Nut Bread, Granny's Pie Crust (and I was looking sooooooo forward to this one) and Grandma's Kitchen. The Banana Nut bread seemed to be pretty good again, this is one of my all time favorite scents and I did enjoy this candle. But I was very dissapointed in the other scents. The Granny's Pie Crust seemed to have a chemical scent to it, I just threw it away after many attempts to burn it. I was so upset about this as it was so awesome the first time I ordered it. And the Grandma's Kitchen scent was fine, but it would not burn! The wick would burn out after only a few minutes. I scooped out some wax from the top several times but this just kept happening...so I ended up just tossing that one as well. They also again forgot one of my candles. They did ship it later with some cheesecake tarts added for the error. So as it seems with alot of these candle companies...there must be some good batches and some bad batches, this makes me very leary of ordering and it is very frustrating when you are paying shipping charges also!!!! ***3/1/06 UPDATE***After posting this review I got an email from Tarrah at The Spotted Hog, she was very concerned about my complaints. This is obviously someone who really cares about her customers and her products!!! I do feel it is unfair to give someone a poor review when sometimes things happen that are out of your control, like one of my candles not staying lit, could have just been a bad wick, and this is not Tarrahs fault!!! I also wanted to clarify that I was not pinpointing The Spotted Hog for shipping, they have decent shipping rates, a flat rate of $8.50, just saying it can be frustrating not getting what you think you are getting with some of these candle companies when you are paying shipping rates also!!! But I will surely give Spotted Hog another chance. It is obvious they stand behind their product and want happy customers!

I received my first order this past week, and was impressed with the quality of the candles. They were so cute, loved the labels! The scents were so nice, very realistic, too :) I think my favorite was the Banana Nut Bread! Very nice, medium throw----just perfect. I also liked their peanutbutter bliss, it was so yummy. I also liked the maple syrup candle, very realistic. I didn't find any to be super room fillers, but they were absolutely enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this company, great service, and as with most smaller companies, excellent products and great quality.

Ok... these jars are too cute! I love the label with the cow... I ordered 3 16oz candles in: Pumpkin Spice- Great cold throw!! Nice hot throw. For being 16oz it did really well in my living room. Granny's Pie Crust: VERY YUMMY! The cold throw is alright, but the hot throw is GREAT. It is more of a subtle scent though....and I got a faint aroma from it so I moved it to my bedroom. In the smaller room....it was FANTASTIC. Maple Butter- Good cold throw. Hot throw was not as strong as I wanted it to be. The scent is GREAT, but too light. I could really make out the "butter" scent. I moved it to a bedroom, and it did well in the smaller room. Packing was very good.... and the order was processed quickly and shipped very quick as well. I ordered all my candles in "natural" which is quite nice....and they were soy as well (I believe they offer both paraffin and soy). I was sent a compliment tart in strawberry lemonade...which has a wonderful cold throw.... but I haven't burned it yet. Overall, this company is nice. I would definately place another order with them. Why, oh why, am I so addicted to candles!!!???

One of my three favorite all time candles comes from the Spotted Hog, since the scent hasn't been mentioned in any of the other reviews, I felt I had to sing its praises. The scent is Apricot Peach Medley. I have to tell you I couldn't even believe I ordered this candle in the first place. My father and father-in-law both farm produce and my husband wont even think of eating a peach he is so sick of them from growing up surrounded by them. But order I did, and I am so glad. The scent was the hit of the summer, everyone who came over commented on it, my mother calls it "her candle", guess what she is getting for her birthday in November? My 6 year old daughter, the neighbors and even my non-peach eating husband loved this one. I usually burned it along with another favorite, a ginger peach and the two of them would throw scent through all of my two story house. The candle I purchased was the mason jar style and I believe it was 16 oz. The candle literally burned all summer, the throw was obviously fantastic, but what really impressed me was how many hours I got out of that candle. I also ordered two other candles from Spotted Hog, Rosemary & Sage and Citrus Breeze. Both of these candles burned well and lasted forever but I don't believe I will order either of these two scents again, they were just too light for my personal preference. I definately will continue to order from The Spotted Hog again(can't forget Mom's birthday can I). My only trepidation is, and I can't believe I am going to admit this on this site, I am not a big bakery fan. Sometimes when I look at their selection I feel a little out of my comfort zone, but I am going to branch out of my comfort zone and try some bakery scents. I probably will baby step it and start with something fruity like ginger fig or blackberry crumble. I'll let you know how it all turns out.

I tried various tarts and snap packs from this company. Overall the tarts were very strong but the scent didn't last. The snap packs which I got in the soy wax weren't nearly as strong as the paraffin tarts. The thing I didn't like about this company is that you have to buy I believe 12 tarts of the same scent. They do have a few select scents in single tarts and those were the ones that I tried. You can purchase 1 snap pack at a time though. I highly recommend Blackberry Jam Butter Cookie and Jelly Donut.

After I found candlefind, I was so excited to try Spotted Hog candles after all the great reviews. I bought the largest jar candles in Christmas Cabernet, and Perfect Pumpkin Pie, an electric tart burner with Cranberry Scone tarts, and various other discontinued tarts. I love my tart burner, it is a little coffee cup, and l love using it at school so I don't have an open flame. However, the cranberry scone tarts smelled like cherry cough medicine, and even though they were strong, I threw them all away after burning the first for about 2 hours. The other discontinued tarts including chocolate banana and gingerbread were awful, once melted they smelled nothing like the description. I did really like the pumpkin country, and if it was still available, I would have bought many more of those, since pumpkin is usually my favorite scent. That being said, I do not care for the perfect pumpkin pie at all... the description says you can smell the crust, and you can, unfortunatley, that's all I can smell...but the throw is very powerful, and if you like pie crust then you would love it. The Christmas Cabernet is wonderful, it is almost gone now and I will have to get another. As with all online companies you take a gamble with the scent, it's hard to know if you'll like it when you can't smell it on your computer screen! :-)

I have wanted to try Spotted Hog Candle Company for a long time. I LOVE the name. And I have been reading the reviews for many years on Candlefind. I finally ordered a few weeks ago. My order came about a week after I ordered. It was packed very well. The mason jars are very cute. I thought I ordered all 3 scents in the mason jars but got 2 in the jars and one in the smaller apothecary jar. It is also very cute, but not what I wanted. There was also a little Halloween bag in there with some extras in it. What a very nice touch. I also ordered the 5 cent tart in Peanut Butter Cookies. I will start with that one. I got no scent from it, cold or melted. My freebies were a Cinna-Munchkins, it was very, very nice. It scented my house very quickly. There was also a tester scent in Pilgrims Pie. It was also very nice and scented my house very quickly. I love it. The 3 jars that I ordered were Birthday Cake, I got no scent from it, cold or melted. And the Banana Nut Bread was in the smaller apothecary jar. While it smelled very good, being that it was smaller, it only scented my kitchen. My last jar was Spice Cake. It has to be the best Spice Cake I have ever had. Very comforting and spicey. It scented my house very quickly. I love it. I will probably reorder from this company but had high hopes for the Birthday Cake and Peanut Butter Cookies and didn't get any scent at all. Overall a good company to deal with but it's hit or miss when you can't smell them ahead of time.

I received a few Spotted Hog melts as part of a prize package and quickly became a fan. Cranberry Marmalade is strong and authentic, smelling just like you think it would. Pumpkin Carrot Strudel was wonderful and I’m rather hard to please when it comes to bakery. I also received two of the most adorable Cake Bites you can imagine, scented in Birthday Cake. I’m not kidding when I say I had to stop myself from swallowing these whole! They looked exactly like a square of cake, complete with frosting, and they smelled like it too. Yum! Another scent that I loved was the softer, more delicate, somewhat complex White Nectarine & Apple Tea. The last item in my prize package was a large gourmet chunk tart in Caribbean Strawberry. This is to date the prettiest tart I’ve ever laid eyes on, although that may change once I get my hands on this company's new Whippets. Those look divine! I can’t find Caribbean Strawberry on the scent list anymore, so it may be discontinued. But it was outstanding, a fruity slice of tropical paradise! After this great experience, I had to place an order. I bought all clamshells. In addition to reordering some of the above scents, I also got these new ones: Apple Jack & Peel is a familiar scent to many. This was strong and authentic and very, very pleasing to my nose. I believe it’s apple, orange, and spices. Deelish! Coconut Bay is a terrific tropical blend of coconut, fruit and ice cream. Who wouldn’t love that?! Mrs. Claus Candy Cane Cookie is one that many people seem to rave about. And the name sounds so delicious. However, I wasn’t really a fan of this scent. Maybe it was the blend of bakery and mint. I'm not sure. Orange Chiffon Cake is a slice of heaven. A mouth watering blend of orange, caramel and bakery. Oh so good and strong! Shredded Coconut Cake is another bakery that this non-bakery gal adores. Spotted Hog does such a fantastic job with bakery scents. Mmmm, mmmm! Sinfully Vanilla is a wonderful, pure vanilla with more than adequate scent strength, unlike some vanillas out there. Holiday Rugula Cookies was just okay for me. There was nothing really wrong with it, but I doubt I’ll reorder it. There are just too many fabulous scent choices to settle for "okay." I feel that Spotted Hog is a bit pricey, but well worth it. And if you look around the website, you’ll find specials, savers, and sales. Enjoy visiting every page. There’s plenty to see, and you may save a few dollars by checking out everything!

Purchased 3 candles- Granny's Pie Crust, Blackberry Jam Cookie, and Peach Apricot Medly along with spa and banana nut bread melts. I really like Blackberry Jam. Nice throw and true scent. I also like Banana Nut, which is as close to banana bread as I can imagine. Very yummy. Not crazy about Granny's Pie Crust, which is a disappointment since it got so many positive reviews. Just can't figure it out. Not that strong a throw and not a distinct smell. Just smells like the oven is on, but can't make out what's in it!. Maybe it will grow on me, but I tend to avoid burning it in favor of my other favorites like pureintegrity candles and the blackbery jam from this company. Haven't tried spa or Peach Apricot medley yet, but the cold smell is nice, unlike the cold smell of granny's pie crust. Would definitely order from them again as the shipping and overall service was good as are the prices. Candles also burn clean with no tunneling.

I ordered several different fragrances in this brand and for the most part I like these candles, but some of the fragrances are not so authentic. For example: the blueberry muffin candle is too sweet, I actually think it drew ants into my house!!! LOL the mixed berry crumble fragrance was not a favorite for my husband or I (had to stop melting it) my waffle cone candle is only soo soo, but it seemed so much better when I got it as a melt...not loving the candle the kids and I did like the froot lupe tart a whole bunch! the cranberry tarts were good watermelon tart-- too sweet even for me and I like sweet the raspberry vanilla swirl fragrance was not a favorite I did receive a sample of the butter cake and thought that was a great fragrance Pink sugar kisses smelled a little harsh to me...not a favorite though I like pink sugar normally, maybe it's the citrus note in it I did like the sample of mixed berry creme and bellisima blueberry--they were both nice I guess for the price of s&h and the candles themselves, I would not reorder again, but I really like the wide mouth canning jar style and love that they are double wicked. The label peels off easy too for a cleaner look... the candles burn well and the scent throw is pretty strong, and it seems that a lot of people really like this company so maybe I just picked the wrong fragrances for me :)
