I have been buying, using, and giving Candles by Kathy candles for the past few years. I have always been pleased with the products and the service. I have purchased from the clearance candles several times. I have never had any problems with any of the candles smelling musty. They have always been as wonderful as the nonclearance candles I've ordered.

I received my first order today. Kathy included five free tarts which I thought was very generous. I already had some tarts burning but put one of the free ones--Christmas Memories--in the downstairs bath and you can smell it all over the house. It is a wonderful cinnamon Christmas scent. Since we were having winter weather here today I had gone ahead and decorated the house for the holidays so this is fitting in very well. If the rest of the tarts and melts I ordered are this good I'll be ordering lots. Give Kathy a try. I'm burning Wild Strawberry this morning--very nice.

I bought a layered red, white and blue jar candle on ebay that was made by Candles by Kathy. I absolutely love it. It is unbelievably strong, double wicked, the red is cherry, haven't got to the blue or white yet. Have never ordered from her website, but will definately order now, this candle is wonderful :)

I purchased a couple of her candles that were on clearance, they must have been around for a while since they were kind of musty smelling and I did not get a good idea of what her candles are like. I plan to try again and order some that are not clearanced. ***UPDATE*** I ordered some more candles and some break apart tarts. I also won the candle for the month of January. I think the first time I ordered I just got some old candles and therefore did not get to see what her candles were truly like. I think she does a good job!

Based on the other reviews (and that Kathy was running a buy one get one free sale) -- I decided to place and order. I recieved my order withing 5 days. Here is what I recieved: ~~~ 16 oz. INDIAN SUMMER -- Musk, fruit and herbal scents. Very powerful! -- COLD -- incense scented -- HOT -- this is a nice background kind of scent -- it has almost a pumpkin pie smell (almost) althought I did not find it to be a heavily scented candle as stated (probably less than moderate rating IMO) but still a warm weather compfort smell. ~~~ 16 oz. CUDDLE UP -- Baked apples and spices with melted butter sprinkled with french vanilla -- COLD -- mainly cinnamon with bit of sweetness. HOT -- definately and apple cinnamon combo -- nice -- moderate throw. 4 oz. Frankincense & Myrrh -- Like the incense burned at Christmas. Two of the Holy Gifts given at the Birth -- COLD -- almost baby powder (not what I was expecting) 4 oz. Olde Country Store -- Reminiscent of all the scents that blend together in a country store. Very unique -- COLD -- mainly sharp cinnamon Kathys candles are mutely colored, the 16 oz are double wicked with wooden lids in heavy quality glass jars, the 4 oz. candles are small jelly jars with one piece lids, and her labels are small craft paper (1" x 2"). OVERVIEW -- Although Kathys candles are not soy (which I enjoy) -- they liquify & burn well, the wicks are nice (but need to kept trimmed pretty close at first or I experienced some smoking) and the scent throw is moderate. I was initially concerned by the first cold smell of these candles -- but the hot throw is much stronger/better and different smelling then the intial whiff. I would definately consider buying from Kathy again -- she is prompt & businessly like! Julianne
